Instruments and warning lights - oil temperature Superb II

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a question please.

As I read in the in topic "Instruments and warning lights" of owner's manual (page 22 - B6 model year 2011)

"oil temperature*
The oil temperature appears in the display when the ignition is switched on. If the oil temperature is lower than 50°C or if a fault in the system for checking the oil temperature is present, three lines are displayed instead of the oil temperature."

My question is somebody seen this any-time?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, every time that I start the car from cold

My owner's manual contain it, but on the display not appear it never.

Maybe is there a difference between manual and my version of car?

You can switch the oil temperature in the Maxidot - to display it or not. I presume the three lines it refers to : - - - Relate to the Maxidot and not the main instrument cluster.

Do you know how Coops, I don't think I've seen this option in Maxidot.

Perhaps its a new addition? My Superb is a 2011 car.

Can't remember off top of my head silver - will have a look when I go out next.

It is within the MFD settings - you can select which items you want in the list such as MPG, av speed, time etc

Having oil temp option in Maxidot depends on your servicing schedule, crazy I know.

When I got mine oil temp was there, - - - until oil warmed to 50 then displayed current  temp. Had 1st service,(fixed) still there, 2nd service (fixed) and it was gone!

Back to Skoda, lots of head scratching, suggested not available on V6  :@ , when I said it was there for last two years they were stumped. I then suggested resetting service indicator to variable not fixed and back it came

Use oil temp indicator every time I drive the car, keep revs below about 2k until oil is warm, then

Yep, they delete it when you go onto fixed service intervals. Mine disappeared at first service. I can't say I miss it that much.

@silver1011:

Select setings in Maxidot, then MFD data, then select ones you want to display. I have travel time, current consumption, average consumption, distance, average speed, oil temperature and speed warning available.

I have no maxidot in my car. Without maxidot, is there a way to show the oil temperature?

I have travel time, current consumption, average consumption, distance, average speed, speed warning available too.

Hello

Is there a way by service station to get me the oil temperature page appear in the MFD?

Currently these pages are available in my car.

What are your opinions?

Cheers Coops, I'll give it a go today...

...although I'm on fixed service intervals so I'm guessing it might not be there.

I wondered why, after the last service, I now had the oil temp on the display. After 2 fixed services I've changed to variable, what a strange setting?

What a strange setting?

Great for engine preservation in the winter months.

Keep the RPM / engine load as low as possible until the engine oil is up to temperature.

The problem with the water / coolant temperature gauge is that the coolant gets up to operating temperature well before the engine oil so it isn't the best gauge for engine temperature.
