After owning my black Octy Estate for the past 3 years, I noticed that the rubber seals around the doors were a little wrecked (mainly due to vandalism by wildlife).

 

So I popped into Robert Eardley's in Stoke and noticed a nice new white VRS..

 

I bought the seals and then asked for a quick test drive to see what I was missing out on..

 

On returning from the drive, I told the missus I was having one, no if's and no buts..  So I started talking numbers with the sales bloke Josh whilst she looked around.

 

After 5 mins she came back and said I could have a VRS if she could have a Fabia Monte Carlo..

 

 

Now - I'd have to check the numbers and check with insurance to see if we could afford it..

 

So the next day we went back and signed for 2 new cars..  Hers is in Endom waiting to be shipped from stock, mine needs building...

 

The next time I need a spare part - I'm doing it online - it's a hell of a lot cheaper..

You only live once so why not? Great story. It's not like one of those "build a replica Ark Royal" magazine things where you get one part per visit and after 5000 issues you get to put together a vRS? What spec did you go for?

Blackbirds attacked the rubber seals on the doors - they used to sit on the roof bars and peck at the rubber.

The Monte Carlo is a bog standard build - Onyx interior, Candy white.

 

Mine is a Race Blue VRS Estate 2.0 TDi, got the sunset glass, Sat Nav and Canton sound system.

 

Should look sweet..

I did ask them to throw me some freebies in as I was buying 2 cars, lets wait to see what I get as a freebie and if I go back there ?

After SWMBO started driving my Octy Est.  She loved it..  Couldn't get enough - although when I cranked the VRS up to 85 she is now too afraid to drive the VRS because it's too quick - SUCCESS!!!

So I guess something happened on the test drive to sway you. Grin on your face, perhaps?
