Superb -> Citigo

Featured Replies

Posting as my psuedo alias while testing.

Anyhow it's done. Superb going in, citigo coming out.

In the end despite wanting to order a new car; never have had one, nor will now, with the build / estimated delivery now of next year it's daft.

So I've opted for a low mileage 3k, elegance 75 around 8k. Again, I think I wanted a sport, but actually wasn't that fussed either way, se and above was enough. I'm bound to knock the sporty bits off with rocks and kerbs.

So red elegance manual, sunset glass in theory, will see when it turns up.

So now to adjust to the lack of length, power and traction, ideal timing for autumn.

I really do not think you will be disappointed.  I have a spring green Elegance 75 Greentech bought in April at 10 months old and with 5k miles.

I find the performance quite acceptable and the handling is great.

The best fuel consumption I've managed is 74 mpg but mid 50s to 60s is an everyday reality.  Insurance is cheap for me and of course no excise licence.

Nice one Colin :)

Funny you should say that Mr D - as i have an appt to test drive a citigo sport tomorrow morning!

Doing the maths compared to my Octy, with the 0% finance and low cost its almost a no brainer.. even the Octy road tax is almost 3 months of payments on a citigo.

Only issue that may foil everything is the availability of the cars... ive been quoted 16-20weeks delivery time :(

Well done Colin. Good move :)

Indeed, I went a few weeks back to buy on the day no questions really an ex demo sport. They sold it hours before I got there. Dam those breakfasts!

Availability killed my new order, was going to be into January and they were delayed already.... Was looking forward to banking the money from the superb... but it needs tax, tyres etc, so the cost of those is more than I'd ever earn in interest over 3 years. All in all, whats a few k on the clock. Sport is a nicer look, but ultimately this is a car of function over passion... Only concern and as raised, is it's 3dr, so big doors, small spaces. I'll worry about it when it happens. I reckon you can park on the pish and get away with it :S

Unless you go and stick an alfa badge on it.

Oddly learnt to drive in a red van, a 1983 LT28, which had almost as much power as this citigo and could lug a couple of tonnes of bricks up the m6. I'm certain I can remember how much fun that was to drive :) Open the engine cover to get a bit more 'noise' and warmth in winter :D

I'm adjusting to the big doors of 3 door coming from an Octy. So far one bang on the garage wall but no damage :)

I always feel that the 5 door doesn't quite give it the full Sport look as opposed to 3 doors. My feeling anyway.

I agree. I always prefer the look of 3door cars where available and in my case its doubtful if the back seats will get used more than 3 or 4 times in the time i have the car.

Yes, it a pain having to reach to get the seatbelts but you get used to it  .

Well had my test drive this morning - the car really is surprising how "grown up" it feels - especially compared to my rattlebox Octy.

Ive signed on the dotted for a demo car that they had due to arrive in december - red sport with the serpens alloys.. will have to wait and see what the alloys look like on the car but might see about swapping them for some OE 15s

I have the serpens alloys on my white sport and I think they are well worth the 270.

Can I call first dibs in any px deal please

If it's of any use???????????????????????

SWMBO & I purchased a brand new 5 door 75PS Greentech in the Summer, & we're both (yeah, even SWMBO) are extremely happy - even she doesn't miss the "Flying Brick" of the Volvo that we had previously. Paid full pops for it (although we did get a £500 fuel card with it), but we then bought a pre-registered 60PS SE for one of our sons - 8 (yup EIGHT) miles on the clock) & that was 7.5k smackeroodles. As the "new" price is around 9.5k, I reckon that he got a bargain.

We both receive roughly the same mpg (I tend to switch off the stop/start, as I start the engine) & I doubt that there's any benefit between having something that will do the legal limit (+30 mph) & one that will do the legal limit (+37).

I reckon that the car looks much better as a 3 door, but if one periodically carries passengers, then the 5 door is much more suitable.

Another point well worth knowing, is that if you buy a factory fitted full sized spare, it's £50: if you buy as an afterthought, then you have to shell out more than £150 for the exact same thing????????????????
