I  have just installed a new Columbus in 2010 vrs. The columbus works perfectly apart from voice.

 

But when I try to connect to it via vcds using 56 radio or 37 nav it says there is a problem with the ecu and wont load the long code helper.

 

Have looked on ross tech wiki but still do not see why it can't connect. this is the fault code from can gateway.

 

Any ideas please ?

does the radio switch off when you pull the key out?

Radio switches off and all functions work apart from voice. Another thread says on early cars sound not available. Not too fussed about sound. I have enabled 37 and navigation all perfect and on maxi dot too.

Getting similar errors after a failed software upgrade on my Columbus (see http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/306488-columbus-problems/) - did you ever get to the bottom of this please?

Sadly I cant even get into the coding for 37/56 as the Columbus is not recognised. In my case it is because a software update failed at the gateway update stage. So what I am hoping for is to find a way to get the Columbus recognised by the CAN gateway so I can possibly adjust the clock setting which is currently stopping me updating the software.

However, looking at the gateway coding, its only an installation list and 37/56 are ticked so not sure VCDS can help on this one.

I can't until I change the clock setting as the swl discs won't take. And unfortunately as without the gateway communicating with the Columbus I can't change the clock!!

Adam, isn't the clock independent from the Columbus and changed through the maxidot? I think I remember somewhere that it had to be changed from 12 hour clock to 24 hour version or vice versa.

That is exactly correct Ian but because the gateway doesn't recognise the HU it doesn't seem to be being changed as far the HU goes, even when I change it in the maxidot...

HI! Did you get to the bottom of this? I have a RNS510 1T0...BX with the same issue, it just won't connect/communicate with the CAN. I installed fw5238. I put it on 2 different cars, VCDS can't read it and Test mode shows no communication with CAN. I think it's a hardware issue, but which one and is there anything to be done? Thanks

I resolved in the end by having the firmware reflashed to the Columbus outside the car. I used a company called hazzydayz.

That's what I did also, reinstalled the firmware on the table. Anyway, I think I've found the solution: "there is no power supply for TJA1054 after upgrade sw4XXX or more, pin BAT on picture, just bypass pin BAT and VCC, can will start work again, I have tested on may be 20 units..."
