8V or 16V ?

Featured Replies

Hello all, I was convinced my car (Octy 2005 2.0 TDI) was an 8 Valve engine, As it says on the log book, But i've heard something about it actually being the 16 valve DOHC, Is this correct? Engine code is BKD...

It's a 16V DOHC PD engine. They also did a 2.0 CR with DPF from 2010> Be thankful you have the PD lump :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Strange why it says 8V in the log book.

Mines an 8v BMM.

BKD is the twin cam lump as previously mentioned.

BMM is what's in the Scout and "normal" 4x4 models.

what about 1.6 mpi BSE

And your point being. What's better about the pd over the cr.

No dpf on the 16v pd engines generally.

The PD engine was designed and used before the ridiculous emission regulations. Later PD engines had a DPF attached to an engine it wasn't designed for. That might be an urban myth though.

True, I think they only fitted it to certain models though (Later VRS and Scout?)
