Roomster rear break pad sensor

Featured Replies

Hi All, i am trying to find if the rear of the Roomster break pads have sensors, my Roomster went for service a week ago when the mechanic told me the rear breaks need replacing soon. 5 days later the replace break pad light cam on. After inspecting the rear i cant see any sensor at the back and the replacement part shown here also does not have a senor on the pads, from my last car which was VW Bora the sensor lead came off one of the pads. So am i ordering the right part and is there actually a sensor on the back? or is this from the fronts which are also getting low but the back are definitely a lot lower. i am going to do the job myself so want to make sure i am getting the right part.

also the mechanic said my disc have got a lip at the top which as far as i can see is because the pads do not contact this area and has worn the disc were it does, creating a lip at the top or a big valley in the middle (between wheel bore and disc edge)...so this is quite normal. but he said replace the disc as well since they have lip i am not sure this is really needed. any ideas please. i could replace them anyways as it not a big job but do i need too...

When I put my registration into the Europarts site it comes up with two different designs for the front pads,so if you do the front make sure you have the right design first.VW on all there cars I've had with disc brakes used either VW or Teves make of brake pads, and it caught me out the first time.Looks like the rears may be just the shape you have shown, but visually check first.

Cant help you more than that with a wear limit of around 7.5mm including backing plate(which seems very low to me) I've got some way to go before I do mine, and then I will be fully informed as to what,s what.

It is usual to have a lip on the disc after a high mileage,if its really pronounced, then its not to hard to change it or expensive.

Cant help you regarding the sensor until i look at mine when the time comes to do my brakes but Europarts don't seem to show any rears with wires, but only had a quick look?

Changed my rear pads today, no sensor on the rear.

Thanks Aubrey.

You naturally assume that if there’s sensors on the front ,there will be on the back, and think to yourself I need not worry any of the brake pads wearing, as the sensor will give you notice.

First car I've had with sensors and shows how wrong you can be!

Its been a couple of months since I changed the front but I seem to remember only the front left had a sensor.
