It's so sad that Suzuki have such a big/little hit on it's hands with the Jimny and now more or less have to withdraw it from sale in the EU. It beggars belief that they didn't figure its high emissio

Suzuki have probably stuck with the Jimny name as the feel it is well established and people know what it is and what it is capable of.

However with this new design I feel the vehicle could have been aimed at a far wider audience and would have benefited from a name change to reflect this.

Suzuki Gecko; small, compact (the name, lizard and car ) and implies it will get you just about anywhere.

Not too sure about having to tongue your eyeballs though.

Wasn't there a prototype or design exercise for the Jimny that looked a bit like the Landrover Defender prototype designs?

Should have just licensed the Tonka name.

Suzuki Tonka Or Jimny Tonka.

I should have had the 'Gecko' name trademarked years ago.

If the Auto shifter is as shown here and the manual transfer box shifter as well, all will be dandy with me.

What is it with them and prices,  they do not give them they are clueless / useless.  a Suzuki Jimny Auto cost just under £12,000 in 2003, i know i bought one.

Still worth a few grand now.

£13.500 - £15,000 is the Asking Price at dealers just now for a 18 plate Suzuki Jimny manuals.

How much Stiffer really is the chassis?, not much from the pictures, or much of a change in the suspension!

^^^ If Auto Express is correct and 2 H is Front Wheel drive they fail to mention the big change that the Jimny has been rear wheel drive in 2 wheel drive,

and that was what many owners / drivers liked.

A pusher not a puller that did could cope well in 2 H with the right tyres.

(The Jimny has been 1,645 mm wide for the past 20 years.)

Comes on 195/80 R 15 tyres, last Jimny was on terrible Bridgstone Dueler 205/75 R 15.

So that is about 22mm taller sidewall.

That means the new height of 1,725mm over the 1,705mm is Tyre size difference if the roof rails on the last version were not included.

20 years they fitted as standard bad Bridgestone tyres but in 205/75 R15.  At least those are narrower but really are pathetic tyres even on roads if you add moisture or cold.

A tyre upgrade will pretty much be the first thing required on them.

The videos show how capable they can be, but use good All Terrains / All Weather or actual Mud Tyres and you can do routes and offroad driving without the wheel spinning and now with the new Jimny electric intervention & nipping of brakes.

No matter how good hill descent assist is it is a very frightening thing when tyres are just slicks when full of slimy mud or snow.

So looks very much like lifted and not on standard springs or dampers, so better articulation,

then obviously this one is on the BF Goodrich Mud Tyres which does make a huge difference in Mud / Dirt.

I am Jimnyless for the first time in 15 years.

Last one gone and nothing with rear wheel drive for this winter other than push bikes or electric bikes.

The New Jimny is Front Wheel drive with the AWD bringing in the rear wheels so i will wait and see if they are special or any good then decide if i am buying one of these or going on the hunt for another of the current Jimny's i know all about.

I am currently thinking that a Jeep Renagade might be 'simply clever' as an alternative as they are going for 'much cheapness' and makes sense to me as a keeper.

I guess you've got a bit of a 'Jimny riddle' then :D

A hard decision,  but not going for the Suzuki Viagra.

The Viagra isn't quite up to the task you might want it for

I took a 9 speed petrol Renagade out for a run this morning, loved it last time i drove one, it was OK but i dont think i can live with the Fuglyness,

So going for one of these when i find the one i want, which will be an Auto and pretty much like this, or Grey / Black.

Late 2019 will be time enough to see if the new Jimny has been snag free & then i can get a Early one / ex Demonstrator if they are good, or look at an EV.

I looked at the Renegade when I got the Viagra, but the dealership experience wasn't a patch on Suzuki's and also I thought they were a little overpriced. The recent facelift has improved the fugly rating of the Jeep imho but it's still no beauty. Oh, and 9 gears! it's too many. I thought 8 was too many in my old BMW (superb gearbox if left in auto though) and I could get lost with gear selection if in flappy paddle mode. Mind you there was probably quite a lot going on at the time I was in manual mode :D
