It's so sad that Suzuki have such a big/little hit on it's hands with the Jimny and now more or less have to withdraw it from sale in the EU. It beggars belief that they didn't figure its high emissio

  • 6'6" and my wife is 5'11", we pulled on a Jimny like a coat.

You would think that Suzuki GB would want to be showing the Prices on their website since they were saying how many had shown interest and registered for Updates and Information.

^^^ The discontinued Jimny was not perfect but for use offroad it was perfect and with the wee mods of springs and tyres the 1,328cc VVT engine was damn good.  (& You could fit locking front hubs rather than the Vacuum Operated ones.)

There were lights on the rear bumper and body, and the low down lights only on the new one are got a great idea IMO.

The new Steel wheels as standard  lower spec model for the UK is so so and even less electrical crap to go wrong would have nice.

Time will tell if the 'Evolution' is really all for the better because a lot of buyers are going to be using Suzuki Dealers for servicing.

The more buying them and not keeping them for ever the better it will be for those wanting 'Offroaders' in the future.

There is a shortage really of a choice of used Jimny as people tend to keep them.  Time will tell if many trade one in for a new one or many keep what they have now and buy or lease a new one.

I have decided on a Jeep Renegade rather than a new Jimny.

(2.0 diesel 172ps Auto AWD)

Maybe in the future i will get a used New Jimny Automatic.

Next MOT on my 2003 Jimny is in a fortnight.

I'll be interested to see wheat you think of the 10 speed. I looked at the Renegade when I got the Vitara, but was a bit too expensive for what I wanted and I probably could have got the Fiat 500X cousin a bit cheaper. But the current facelifted model looks great and there are deals on them now I guess (they were pretty new when I got my Vitara so the dealers weren't up for much discount).

I drove 1.4 petrols when they were launched with a 9 speed box, it made no difference it might as well have been a CVT.

Engine was good though.  There are used Petrol bargains about but i want a diesel for towing and towing on tracks.

I am just not into the new Jimny and what i have will do when a small car is needed for towing, just need another years ticket on it.

Was the same as this. & i drove a Compass Diesel & Petrol with 172ps.

George,

Did you say that you were going to place an order? Or are you holding off until after all the hype right now.

Holding off to see what electrical problems crop up, and how they are dealt with by dealerships and warranties then for an accident damaged one be converted to to a pick up / offroader if all is well with them.

Not keen on the brake nipping 'upgrade' and then you need the airbags disabled so maybe a last of the 19 year old proven Jimny is a best bet.

Back bumper replacing on the New Jimny with a good metal one and a rear winch is another thing with them putting the lights in the bumper,

but i had the rear lights much the same on my pick-up anyway.

My Jimny's MOT is next week, but it has needed welding the last couple of years, a new exhaust just recently, but the beauty is there is no CAT and no ABS on it.

Planning on getting a nearly new Jeep Renegade next year as a daily driver and to tow with.

If i get a New 'used' Jimny it will be to replace 'Jimny 2 hats'.

My 2003 Jimny passed another MOT today with just the same advisory as for about 12 years now. Some it used to get it does not any longer and no remedial actions were taken..

Cost over the 15 years for consumables & replacement parts means that it has been £1,100 a year for 15 years with purchase price and maintenance.

Twice front swivel / bearings, Front Discs & Pads once, 2 exhausts, spark plugs once, oil and filter 4 times i think, several air filters....gearbox oil changed once,

diff oil twice, wiper blades maybe 6 times. Wing mirrors replaced twice with used ones due to vandals.

Only done 58,000 miles though.

(has never done as much as 30 mpg, usually allow for 25 mpg from tank fills, and the VED is high...)

If Michael Gove MP gets to be the Prime Minister or even just the Chancellor of the UK he might see sense and have them 'banned' from being Imported to the UK.

As it is Chris Graying should be on the case.

After all what was the WLTP all about, and the Type Approval of the New Jimny was after September 2017 and Suzuki & Suzuki GB are taking the pith with the emissions.

Gove is one of the many reasons why the Con Party should be unelectable!

Dacia have 4x4 Duster for sale new for under £19,000 in the UK.

Maybe some Mag / Journalists will put them up against each other on road and on offroad tracks.
