Rear bumper protector for Combi

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have seen people recommend RGM bumper guards on other forums, has anyone got one for the new Octavia combi?

http://www.rearguards.co.uk/

Also - I'm not sure which would be the correct one -

The closest I see is RBP603 - OCTAVIA IV 5DR 2.2013>

but I'm guessing this is for the regular Octavia and not the combi.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Conor

Why not fit an original from Skoda made from stainless steel?

Why not fit an original from Skoda made from stainless steel?

Do you know where I can get details of that? It does not appear to be in the Skoda accessories catalog that I have?

They should also do a clear bumper protection strip - I've ordered this on mine due to dogs claws lol

RGM probably haven't got hold of an estate in order to make one yet.

I'd contact them and ask. I've had one of their rear guards before and it was absolute 1st class -the fit was extremely accurate and it covered a lot more area than an OEM one would do. When fitted to the car it looked like it was meant to be there.

Would be way too shiny for me.

I have a Milotec one on my 2010 Scout.  They probably make one for the new Octavia or will do soon.

RGM seemed pretty late to the party - at least with their Scout offering, although I've no reason to dispute their quality.

I like the sound of a clear protector. Did you order through the dealer as a factory fit/dealer fit, or from A.N Other?

You can order the clear one through your dealer.

I've ordered it with the car factory fit option (tho I presume its the dealers who actually do the fitting)

I saw this in the catalogue but it is not pictured... I guess because it is clear and there wouldn't be much to show in a picture!

I didn't like the look of the pictured cover foil with the orange triangle so that is why I was looking elsewhere- but maybe the clear one would be better - maybe you could post a pic when you have it?

I did actually email them last week but got no reply yet.

I have considered buying one for my car (Hatch) but I'm not sure whether the black would detract from the car or not.

Yes I will post many photos when I get my car lol. Dont hold your breath tho - supposed build week currently week 40.

I suppose it depends on the colour of your car. I think black protector on a white car would look possibly wrong? (mine is white-hence why i haven't bought a protector yet!). I have had stainless steel before on a previous car which looked ok.

I would like a clear plastic film for mine if i could get one, I have not investigated yet into finding out if one is made for a hatch though.

Mine will be race blue, so I don't know if black would spoil it or not, I suspect that the clear one from the dealer may be the best option.

In the Norwegian accessory catalogue they are listed as:

Bumper guards in black plastic:

5E5 064 711 (for the hatchback)

5E9 064 711 (for the estate)

Bumper guards in aluminium (not stainless steel - my mistake):

5E5 064 711B (for the hatchback)

5E9 064 711B (for the estate)

Hope this helps!

Super, thanks, they were not in the Irish accessories catalog - I will get onto my dealer to see if they can get it.

Thanks!

RGM Rearguards look great. Very OEM. On my silver estate it matched the other black plastic perfectly.

Their customer service is also very good. Search my previous threads / contributions on here from about 2011.

BUT, they won't stay stuck down forever & will eventually come up and catch the edge of the boot lid when it shuts & opens - which starts to strip the paint from the edge of the boot.

Ultimately, I removed the rearguard and used a plastic sheet which I pulled out over the bumper when the parents-in-law's dog was jumping into or out of the boot.

I want the clear film for mine as I have it on my current one and it's great.

Can't find any mention of it being available for the mkIII combi though :(

I checked with the dealer yesterday and theres no clear film versio available for the mkiii combi yet

no front mudflaps on the VRS either  :rain:

As above I have one on my Passat and first fitting it s hitting the lid and would wear the paint down. I trimmed the edges off mine about 5cm each side and refitted it and it was OK but definitely one to watch.

Hope that's for standard not vrs cos I've ordered it lol. I don't want one that isn't clear!! It's annoying there are no mud flaps for the vrs tho cos I did want those

it was for VRS but let me know how you get on as the dealers dont always seem to get the right info from skoda.

Im not 100% sure the dealers right on the mudflaps either as I checked the demo the other day and it had the two screw holes in the arch where I'd expect the mudflaps to mount.

my VRS has turned up at the dealer just now so going to try and get there this weekend to take a look :)

Looking at the latest accessories borchure there isnt one (clear film) available for any octavia :(
