Oil

Featured Replies

I want to do an oil change on my car this week, I have about 15 ltrs Of Elf Evolution SXR, 5w-40 oil, I wondered if it would be good for using on my car, TDi Octavia ? I cant find any info on if its ok for my car , I change my oil and filter every 6 months maybe more.

does it say it meets vw spec 505.00, 505.01 or 507.00?  If it does then yes, otherwise no no no...

If your car is a PD130 then 505.00 is no good.

Don't know then.  It would appear likely it hasn't been approved by VW, so you would be taking a chance...

I wouldn't risk it. Spending a few extra pennies on some new (and approved) oil will work out much cheaper in the long run, rather than having things go wrong!

In the end i have taken your advice and bought some new oil, Quantum longlife III 5w30 fully synthetic. Bit pricey but it can last a year this time !!

Ive got some 5w40 oil which meets the correct VW specs, it also meets those renault specs
