SOLD! 2004 Black Magic Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9TDI

Featured Replies

A little bit sooner than planned, but I'm finding myself in need of a bigger car and so the Fabia needs to go.  Bought in November 2012 from Gaz_vrs as I needed an economical car to commute to work (80 miles/day) as the M5 is a bit too expensive to run...

First registered on 05/03/2004, 3 previous owners (I'm the 4th), currently mileage a little over 134K miles, and increasing weekly by 400 miles.  The car has Xenon headlights, 6 CD changer (factory fit), cruise control (fitted by Unit 18) and lowering springs, but otherwise completely standard.  Taxed until 30/04/2014 and MOT until 29/03/2014.

I've been updating a spreadsheet with costs and maintenance and have a folder full of receipts to show what work has been done. You can download it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/785423/FL04RHY/Maintenance.xls.

There are several scratches, dents and marks on the bodywork, and the spoiler has pretty much lost all its paint, revealing the black plastic coat underneath. There's some rust bubbling underneath the paintwork at the rear arches, and there's a dent above the drivers door where the previous owner tried to force his way in after locking himself out. Knocking the window would have been smarter... Anyway, to put it blunt, this isn't a garage queen.

Mechanically she is sound, with a new (Garrett) turbo fitted at 18/01/2013 as the old one suffered, I quote, from 'a foreign object entering'. It then transpired the car was remapped/chipped and after both Unit 18 and Motech Northampton could not remove the map, they offered an exchange ECU to bring it back to standard. The car is therefore back to standard/factory performance which suits me just fine. The air-con does not blow cold air, which may be a simple re-gas, or more involving to fix. There's also an occasional squeak coming from the NSF wheel, when you turn left. I tried to see if it was a wheel bearing, but that doesn't seem to be the cause, so it may be brake related. The pads and front discs have plenty left, although I haven't checked on the inside of the wheel.

On the inside it's all pretty good too, with just the gearstick a bit worn and the gearstick surround missing a few tabs which means you can easily lift it (but you wouldn't know it was loose until you fiddled with it). The passenger side window switch does not work, but you can still open and close the window from the driver controls.

I'm not allowed to add anymore pictures to this post, but I have plenty more (88!) on my website: http://awooga.nl/gallery/cars/fabia.

My asking price is £2,500 which considering the mechanical and cosmetically condition I think is fair. Offers will always be considered, but not always accepted ;)

Viewings can be arranged at all times, either from my home in Northampton, or my work in Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire), or anywhere in between (within reason). Any inspection is welcome.

As said in the opening lines, I am looking to replace this with a bigger car, so if you have a diesel estate (I'd love an Octavia please) of same or similar value, and fancy a swap or P/X, let me know!

Nice wee vrs, I'm actually looking to buy one for my wife.

Any reason why the turbo has been replaced twice in a year?

Well, I don't actually know why it was replaced the 1st time, but the 2nd time was because it said 'pop' whilst I was overtaking someone... and as Unit 18 put it, it turned out it had blown because of a 'foreign object' entering it.
