Priority mods for standard Fabia vrs mk1

Featured Replies

My route went;

1) 312's

2) Wheels

3) Coilovers + bushes

4) New turbo + remap + FMIC (next on the list to be sorted)

5) Clutch

RARB - cheap and really effective

I was going to get mine mapped. But im so glad I went with coilovers first, made a massive difference to the handling and it feels faster.

1. Coilovers

2. Elephant mod

3. Cosmetic mods

4. Stage 1 map

5. Turbo, fmic (seatsport) and clutch

6. Stage 2 map

Happy :)

Decided to go with getting the handling done before i think about remapping.. especially when im going to the nurburgring next year!

any of you guys been round in your vrs?

I'd say go coilovers for looks more than anything!! They look horrendous standard so need slamming then work from there. The standard brakes are fine IMO so would put the money towards something else like a RARB. Just had mine decatted, made quite a difference to spool up and sounds lovely now.

312mm Brakes and cupra bushes.

Then a map

then a decent suspension setup

Utterly depends on perceived usage.

If you think the car is a hot hatch and want to go chasing Ford STs and VXRs, then add 50% more power and replace all of the suspension and brakes.

IMO...

Standard suspension is crap when trying to drive sportily. I don't mind lean but there should be a tautness there - quite frankly there isn't/wasn't. It needs at the least a rear ARB.

Standard brakes don't like sporty use either. Zoom along to a T junction and brake hard(er) more than about 2-3 times and you can feel them starting to struggle. I may be prejudiced on this as I arrived at Fabia 288s from an AP equiped Impreza.

Other usability mods... Cruise control - boot nets (of some description). OEM are now hens teeth rare. Or some other type of boot organiser.

1. Elephant Mod

2. RARB

3. Decent Tyres

4. Remap

5. Springs/Coilovers

I have stage 1 remapped mine and its on AVO springs, however I dont like the ride so will go down the coilover route sooner rather than later. Also need decent tyres up front and will look into other handling mods like rear ARB etc

1. Elephant Mod

2. RARB

3. Decent Tyres

4. Remap

5. Springs/Coilovers

Whats 'Elephant mod'? Lowering?

1. 312 front brake upgrade

2. Jabba RARB

3. Shark stage 1 map.

Agree with the most part except I would go with a Red Dot Racing remap over a Shark remap any day, I live only less than 20 miles away from Sharks main base over in Mansfield, and know of a few cars around here with a Shark map, including my mates Leon 150 FR which by all rights should be faster as standard, but my Red Dot Racing Mapped Fabia beats his Shark Mapped Leon every time.

Does it do anything to top end or out like that kyle?

I've been thinking about decatting mine for a while.

There's more to a remap than out and out power.

+1, it's how it's delivered and the torque. Oh, and the driver :p

Most twisted logic ever.

Just acquired a VRS SE, it has coil overs and a remap. I think the next mod needs to be a limited slip diff as in the wet the wheels start spinning when you boot it even in 3rd.

I had a remap before going for 312mm brakes.

If I could choose again I would choose brakes first.

You'll still spin the wheels with an LSD, it isn't a magic uber grip device, you'll just spin both instead of one :)

Decent tyres. I used to get wheel spin at 70 in the rain on cheap tyres when overtaking on the motorway...not ideal when you have a LSD.

But good tyres and I barely get any when booting it in 2nd now.

If Nurburgring is a big event that's is imminent... BRAKES

The stock brakes aren't great on the road, never mind fast road/track.

Recently we took a golf R round the ring and even the brakes on that started to suffer ;)
