I managed to lay my hands on a bike rack over the weekend, it looks like this but without a car attached

I noticed in the instructions that the hooks shouldn't be attached to plastic panels.  Does anyone know if the tailgate on the Octavia estate is all metal?  It does appear to be metal, but I just wondered if anyone had used one already and had experiences to share.
