Columbus satnav/default audio source settings

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have had my Superb sine July and it is perfect in every respect apart from 2 little annoyances with my Columbus satnav stereo which hopefully someone can help me out with.

Firstly, every time I start the car the audio source always defaults to my bluetooth connection from my mobile rather than the radio, even if the radio is the last thing I was listening to when I used the car.  How can I set it to default to the radio each time the unit is turned on, or the very least to default to the last used source?

The other thing is regarding the map on the sat nav. Every time I view the map after i've turned it on or programmed a destination it defaults to a wide view with the whole of the UK and part of Europe shown on my screen. How can I set it to default to maximum zoom rather than minimum zoom?

Before I had my Superb I had a VW Golf with an equivalent unit which didn't do these things so I'm assuming there's some setting somewhere that can be changed. However are these things I can change myself or is it a job for the dealer?

Thanks very much for any help anyone can give.

I have mine set to auto zoom and it generally then does a mile or so scale.

On the Bluetooth thing there is an option in the setup -> Bluetooth to stop that. I had the same but I can't remember the exact option. Its to do with the media player option.

I have had (since new) the same minor problem with the Sat-Nav zoom. I've just got used to turning the right hand knob and bringing the scale down. It would be great if you could tell me how I set it to `Auto Zoom`.

Many thanks.

Mike.

To sort out the auto zoom you need to press the scale button on screen and you'll then see an 'A' to signify it's available.

Hi Mike,

If you press on the scale in the bottom right of the map screen, you should see a magnifing glass with an A in it. That should activate Auto Zoom. You can of course still overide it with the right hand knob.

Hi, `Art`

Thank you for this. I'll give it a bash tomorrow.

Well I'm afraid this didn't work for me. The map was centred over Europe so I pressed the scale bottom right. It beeped once, then twice but nothing changed. I'll just continue to reduce the scale manually with the right hand knob as I've always done...no big deal.

Hello, `Wokwon`

Thank you for your reply.

Its me!!! I wasn't doing what I was told (its an `age` thing!).

I was pressing and holding.

I've just been out and tried it again and this time just pressed and released. Up came the `A` symbol, so I suppose now its on `Automatic` (whatever that means in effect). However, there was a sliding scale to the left of it, so I don't know if that has any bearing on this in any way...I guess it would have but I don't know how or why!

It must be a drag for you young blokes (I'm guessing you're young coz you were able to insert that fancy arrow above) to have to teach us old farts a thing or two about this techno stuff.

Anyway, I'm very grateful to you and to this forum. You and others have highlighted just how little I know!!!

Again, many thanks.

Mike.

The sliding scale shows the scale currently being viewed on screen.

Which, presumably, can be changed?

The 'auto' bit is the clue! The scale changes (automatically) according to the type of road you are on. On minor urban roads it's 1:200, and it decreases (the distance shown around you position increases) according to the type of road - you see larger parts of the surrounding area on a motorway. If you want to change the scale yourself, you have to take it out of 'auto' mode.

Not sure I actually understand that.

I'll just have to pay real close attention the next time I use it.

Many thanks.
