Ouch indeed! everybody ok? Was it a texting teen or a sleepy lorrydriver? :wall:

Something quite tall hit you?  Looks like damage is "limited" to the bootlid, wing and tail light?

What hit you? The damage seems to be much higher than the minimun ground clearance of most commercial vehicles.

It was a 4WD Toyota with a bullbar on the front towing a dual axle trailer with about 2 tonne on it. Wet conditions, locked up and slid straight into me.

What the photo doesn't show is the creasing of the RH C pillar and that the roof edge trim has started to pop.

Looks nasty, hope everyone was ok. Can see what you mean about the c pillar. Can just make out a gap down the side of the window. At least your lights still work, you must have some strong bulbs.

I'd be surprised if they can get that shell straight again.

Fingers crossed for a write off and healthy payout.

Luckily I was the only one in the car as I was on the way home from work. It's shortened down the RH side enough that the fuel cap is jammed shut, the rear door gap is non-existent and the rear seat does not latch properly if folded and raised again. I'm hoping for a write off, as I have 2 year new for old replacement insurance and it's just over 15 months old.

C pillar damage should result in a write-off. It is essential for structural rigidity and will be extremely difficult to repair in a manner which would return it to 100% strength. Make sure that your insurance company provides you with a nice hire car until the problems are resolved. This helps speed things up, and your Insurance should not object too much because it appears the other party is at fault. Tell them you need a car of equal size, and don't settle for a Corsa or Astra.

Is this the new facelift rearend on the twin door?

(good luck with your insurance company)

No, its the pre-facelift.

I got the joke, Kev.....

I don't, any chance of enlightening me!?

I don't, any chance of enlightening me!?

Hi Silver, maybe just my quirky sense of humour, but I didn't think Kev was genuinely asking if it was an F/L model (pictures show clearly that it was a 2008-2013 shape Superb II). I thought he was jokingly referring to the accident damage as a 'face lift'

I could of course be wrong, (but since Kev 'liked' my comment, I may have been on the right track.)

Anyway, wasn't trying for a laugh at your expense; if it felt that way, I surely apologise.

KSR

Sorry Silver. It was my pathetic attempt at humour. (especially as I had just ordered a new Superb facelift).

Kev

Ah sorry, I'm with you! No need for apologies, I should have taken more time to read and think about what was posted :giggle:

That's written, the rear glass is seperating on the right side and the roof looks twisted anyway, as you have GAP insurance it doesn't really matter what they offer as any shortfall will be made up, best get the brochure out and start choosing which colour you want next.

Get yourself checked out as well, that looks like you must be sore and these things can take a few days to come out, important thing is to get X-ray'd to make sure your neck is ok.

Hi, yes. Make sure you get a medical exam, and that your insurance company knows about it (and pays for it) (recipt etc). Neck/whiplash damage can take a long time to surface, so it could be good for any future problems.

/HenkeZan - also been rammed from behind... :-/

Off to see what the assessor says.

That's not nice to see, made worse by the fact it is identical to my Superb

I'm saying its a write off, but if you get a good bodyshop they can do wonders with it

Ouch

Off to see what the assessor says.

This photo gives a better view of the c-pillar. Whilst the original image doesn't suggest much boot floor damage, a repair would very much depend on the availability of the c-pillar / rear quarter panel.

I'm assuming Australian body shops are going to have relatively up-to-date straightening technology.

It is so much conjecture, but these two images could still leave the actual boot floor and rear suspension mounting points where they should be;, a bit of a tug on a car bench could  make this a repairable proposition - but I'm looking at two jpegs from the other side of the world.  It's the assessor, and probably body-shop foreman, who will decide if they are going to repair, or settle.

I'm away from accident repair a long time now, but I'd say that could get away with a Cat.D, or at worst a Cat.C. rating in the UK.

Well, they are fixing it. Could take a while though. Replace rear 1/4, rear bar, lower under section, tow bar, boot, rear screen (scratched and couldn't be buffed out), upper twindoor hatch window frame including all hinges and mounts, all tail lights (one ok until screwdriver put through it during removal) and all boot trim panels.. Floor and rails appear not to be damaged although roof delamilated from reinforcing. C pillar has to be removed and replaced. L/H boot hinge needs to be replaced as well as all the electrics behind the back seats. Once fixed, off to Skoda for reprogramming.

The panel basher went to order the hatch section to find there are none in OZ, better still, according to him Skoda responded that there is no code for ordering one as nobody has replaced one before, seems that the car normally gets written off when the level of damage reaches the point where this needs replacing. Get this, they need to run one through the production line to get it built then pull it before it ends up on a car. Best guess three weeks, but don't count on it. So much for the assessor saying that all the parts would be in stock and the car would be ready in about two weeks.

Fookin Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
