Any one gone from 1.9 tdi to VRS?

Featured Replies

Hello. Just after some adivce. I've had my 1.9 tdi since January and i cant really fault it. Does great mpg 57at the mo and even doing 95mph on autobahn it still average 50mpg.

Any way since buying my TDI i've always wonderd whether or not i've missed out not buying a vrs. So any way i've saved up some cash now and was thinking of just getting a remap. Has any one gone from TDI to VRS and is there much diffrence in performance.

The only thing concerning me is that i'm still going 26k a year so need to be fuel efficient. And i'm planning to drive through europe again next year so wanted some more power for auto bahn but quite liked 50mpg.

Any way any advice much apprieciated

You will get 50mpg from the vrs no worries, at the end of the day it's still an oil drinking PD130 so plenty quick enough with a remap and also good on juice and fairly reliable if it's been well looked after.

Can't say I've had a 1.9 tdi before though, on paper the difference is day and night though.

VRS powerrrrr! Haha.

Me!

Had the PD100 for 4 years. Always fancied a PD130 but insurance hike didn't justify it. It's noticeably more torquey and I prefer the seats (honestly think they're more comfy although crap lumbar support). The PD130 does put a smile on your face but then for me, the PD100 pulled well and returned excellent MPG. For me, there's about an 8MPG real world difference which on 26K a year is gonna cost you a few more pounds to run!

Also I think it depends on the price you can pick one up. The price difference (plate for plate and miles for miles) for me between the PD100 and PD130 VRS seemed quite substantial and I came from a nice Elegance model so was almost downgrading as I miss heated seats! I picked my VRS for a good price but turned out the steering rack needed replacement so ended up paying 'book' price for the car IMO. I bought the car with the same mileage as the PD100 I sold but paid a few K to do so...

I'm now considering going electric as when you account for fuel, tax, servicing, MOT and maintenance on a yearly 25K annual mileage, it's cheaper to buy a year old EV and run it into the ground over 4 years (i.e. depleted battery pack). But then I get in the VRS and it's just an enjoyable drive so that thought gets pushed away!

Good luck in deciding!

Just map your pd100. It will be nice and smooth and you will have the power of a vrs

the power of my pd100 when mapped was about 145-150bhp with small mods. easily outran a stock vrs many times :)

if youre looking for just a little bit more power, stick with the pd100 and get it mapped. if you go down the performance route, its cheaper to buy a vrs first, I learned this the harder way :) but I love my car aha
