Hi all,

my Octavia TDI MK1 has a gear selector very sloppy. every gear I select, the gear handle comes back to center like it goes to neutral (but the gear don't deselect). What do I have to replace? I took a look and even the spring seems "tired", with almost no strength.

That pieces you have bought, it's in the end of the gear cables right? My Octavia has 410.000 kms, so I believe it has to get some new bushes.

I think the gear selector goes way to much to the front and way to much the back, will it solve that problem too?

regards

Yeah the 42s r in the plastic end pieces

The verdict ones are on the mounting matey

I'm in if this pans out :)

You first should purchase new plastic adjuster end pieces. There are 2. (The ones with the springs).

As no point fitting these parts to worn springs. Also a gear linkage adjustment would probably benefit you and you would have to do this anyway if you renew the end pieces.

You will be amazed at doing just those to the improvement of the gear change.

There is no denying the fitting of the draft design bushings and verdict bushes improves further though, but don't underestimate just a simple renew of std parts and linkage adjustment. Their is a video on how to somewhere.

Old thread drag up time!

Where can I get the verdict bushes? All the links are dead?

Think Verdict went tits up, INA in the States did do them not sure if they still do.

Nice one I'll have a look.

so fitted today followed video to reset linkage, but im having occasional problems getting into second, just feels like is blocked then i joggle and it goes in. any idea?  wasnt a issue before

You could try setting the linkage again to be sure, but when you retract the collar and spring, are all the 3 fingers intact?.

The fingers in the ends have a habit of cracking with age which lets the cable creep in the end.

i bought new  ends , yeah maybe ill have to have another go, wasnt sure if it was a adjustment on one of the linkages would sort it

just re did the adjustment , but instead of pulling the cable tight just kinda let it sit,. seems better i think., find out on way home., wonder if theres anything on there that needs lubing?
