Deluded prices ?

Featured Replies

Without tarnishing any specific ad threads and apologies at risk of upsetting a few people advertising

but what is it with ridiculous prices for private cars on here ?

Take mine (I'm not selling by the way), 56 plate in pretty reasonable nick (e.g nice clean setas) despite 106 odd thou miles (which reduces value several hundred) but quite a  few people overvaluing their cars in the market place by over £1500 - if not £2000 ??

I'm all for retaining value of my car, don't get me wrong I'd be just the same if it was worth it, but some people just seem to have quite mental expectations of their value (for no apparent reason)

e.g. mine at 106k is only £3.3k ish now, sadly (only £300 more if its 60k by the way), in fact I wouldn't even get that if I wanted to sell ( I think you'd be mad to sell a car this good at that price though, frankly - mines staying forever !)

Don't the muppets realise anyone can go online and check values ?? Please pity and pray for some common sense for these people

I hear you, i got my vrs ad standard with 62l on the clock and paid 2800. I think that was a steal.

But the acid test is do they sell?! Just as water tends to find it's own level so do cars value wise. Modded vRS's seem harder to shift.

I'm more into older Skodas & particularly pick ups. Many guys in that respect persistently overvalue their vehicles with the net result they just roll round on ebay etc until they find that optimal value point or not as the case may be.

Of course you can strike lucky & find that one buyer who really wants your car! ;)

Anything in life is only worth what someone will pay for it...simples.

You will always get the ones that BullSh...t the price they sold xyz for but they are only kidding themselves.

People often stick £1k on their asking price so when the buyer haggles with them they aren't mentally 'losing' anything and the buyer feels like they're getting a good deal and 'winning'.
