Who is the youngest Yeti owner?

Featured Replies

I'm currently waiting for the facelift to be available to order.

I'm wondering if I will become the youngest Yeti owner on this site at 32. Do I have any competition on this front?

Not totally sure why the Yeti seems to appeals predominantly to the - let's say - more mature age group. I guess in part it's because we feel less need to impress others with the image of whatever vehicle we own, but I think experience has also taught us to value practicality and all-round ability over one-trick ponies. But, whatever the image, I suspect that some warm hatch owning youngsters might be surprised if given a trip in a CR170 or 1.8TSi Yeti.

I'd bet you'll be the youngest by quite some margin.

I just wonder if his parents have given him permission to go on the interweb without a grown up? You hear such dreadful things on the news....

(And then I realise he is probably one of the few people on the forum that actually understand computers rather than using that good old standby of "If it goes wrong, switch it off, have a nice cup of tea and when you come back hopefully someone will have fixed it).

There were a lot of younger drivers asking BossFox about his remapped CR170 4X4 after seeing it fly around Castle Combe :D

I'm 42 and love our Yeti.

@ Nick, you may not be the youngest, but you may well be the tallest! And errr, air ride

I'd be tempted by a 1.8 TSI Yeti. But cant justify spending silly money on a car with how often I change.

32 when I picked mine up and yes, there's been a few youngsters impressed by it. :)

Probably the first Admin to have one

And we'll never speak to you again

Sounds like an incentive to get one :)

Who asked you, Sierraman?  :P

D I Frost told me to say it - sunshine :) , and there's no truth whatsover in the rumour that it broke (again) today.  Now getting back on topic, will this be first Yeti to get Air Ride?

We were both 35 when we got our first one.

Well, I guess I'll have a Yeti and unless I've sold it, a complete air kit that would bolt straight onto. I guess there'll be a certain element of temptation.

The problem though is the standard AirLift struts won't go as high as I'd like, so I'd have to get some custom ones made up, which actually isn't a big deal.

We'll see. Whatever happens, I'm really looking forward to getting the car.

Don't forget that you may have to explain to some what 'air' is

:D

Do it, do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it,do it!

I was 34 when I bought my Yeti.

I'd love to but SWBO would actually kill me I think. The boot dimensions are the main problem imo. The Octavia is cavernous in comparison - you just don't miss the space taken up by the tank. And in the Octavia I was able to hide the compressor, ecu, water trap, etc. away where the CD multichanger used to live.

The flip side of the short boot on the Yeti is the short overall length of the vehicle, which we like. It'll let us park it on the entrance part of our drive, rather than the main part, without overhanging the pavement. That'll be particularly handy in the snow. The Octavia is too long to do that.

Has there been any indication as to whether SUK will offer the 1.8TSI in Elegance trim on the facelift?

Why not?

They did the 1.8 in SE and Elegance spec before.

But didn't it then get restricted to the L&K fairly recently?

Yes, but only because they are reducing production as the old model is run out.

A lot of engine options have been removed.  All at the same time.

The yeti is great for young families too - my son (6) much prefers it to the Octavia I used to have and the golf my wife has - much better view from the yeti for wee people

Do they need 'special' pants?
