About to order a Citigo - some questions

Featured Replies

The Aygo isn't a bad car, but compared to the Citigo it is completely outclassed, and so it should be as the Aygo is nearly 10 years old now.

With regards to trade in -do your research and find similar examples for sale and see how much they are going for (Autotrader etc.) the dealer has to make some profit, how much they pay for your car is just as big a part of the haggling process as getting a discount off the one you are buying.

I've just noticed you are in London.

Where abouts?

I'd suggest using Preston Motors in East London as:

1. They sponsor this forum.

2. They are always keen to do a deal.

I've bought over 10 cars there in the last 3 years and have always been happy with the deal.

In fact I picked a Fabia Scout up yesterday and a Yeti a few weeks ago...

Speak to Lee and mention that you are on Briskoda. :)

If you need any help, PM me. (Private Message)

The Aygo is not a patch on a Citigo, I wouldn't get one personally.

As said it's an old design and was average at the time.

If you want a trade-in value, try a quote from webuyanycar.com - and expect them to at least match, if not better it.  Makes a handy bargaining tool if you have the printout in your pocket as well.  At least you know they won't be trying to pull the wool over your eyes.  Some dealers will offer less, some more.

I've not used him, but Lee at Preston seems to get a good rep from those (like BossFox) who have so worth a quick chat, I'd have thought?  If I was buying private, I'd certainly see what he could do as I like his style (never pushy for business on here).

EDIT: Lee - PM me for where to send the cheque ;)

Honestly guys, a heartfelt thanks for the advice you have offered, all within my first day of forum membership too. I didn't expect people to be so helpful based on my experiences on other motoring and car forums! Yet another reason to buy a Skoda.

I've got to say this place is one of the friendlier forums out there. The citigo forum seems particularly friendly and with plenty of useful advice.

As for the Toyota, they may be able to do a slightly better deal but you'll see for yourself that the citigo is a far better car and if they worse comes to the worst far better equipped to survive a crash.

As for the p/x I did. I got a fair price. I could have got more but I got 750 discount on the car so I didnt want to push it.

Thanks for that advice. Yes, it's really only the cost-to-change that matters to me. It doesn't matter how they manipulate the purchase price and the trade-in price: the final balance is all that matters!
