I don't have this option on my Columbus either. I have just downloaded the latest maps and installed them, so it looks like it is firmware dependent, or needs enabling. I'll have a look with VCDS tomorrow to see if I can see anything obvious.

I wasn't seeing this on mine. I'm Amundsen without traffic sign recognition.

Did you have to do any setting adjustments to get this to show? Which of the maxidot modes does this show in?

Mine shows up when I select navigation from the steering wheel button. I haven't checked but I have satnav selected on the Amundsen screen most of the time, so whether that makes a difference I'm not sure. Will have another look when I get back off my hold.

When you are wrong you have to admit it & having now returned from my hols checked what is on the maxidot navigation display. It does show compass orientation and road name/number you are on but no road speed info.

 

Sorry if I misled anyone but I was convinced the road speed appeared both on the Amundsen & Maxidot display.  SWMBO just said "another senior moment".

Does it show the speed limit on the Amundsen display like SWMBO's PID unit does in her Citigo?

Car been in at dealers today for 2 hours and they have done the update as per skoda, and guess what still doesn't work. So they have ordered me a new replacement unit.

My Columbus is being looked at today for the same issue. They are going to look at a software update, but believe it to be a coding issue.

Have you got this sorted? I have the same problem with the Columbus and my dealer is clueless as to how to enable it. They haven't even done a firmware upgrade yet, allegedly they are waiting on Skids to tell them what to do, but I'm not holding my breath.

Be interested to know if your replacement Amundsen worked, seeing as it doesn't seem to be a firmware issue. My guess it is a coding issue.

After a quick play with VCDS I now have the option for displaying traffic signs. Don't know if it works yet though, I'll let you know in a few days. The car now seems to think I have full traffic sign recognition installed though!

Solved - on the Columbus it is coding, nothing to do with firmware versions. Thanks to spacenase for letting me scan his car and spot the difference. Now to see if it can be made to work in the Maxidot as well :-)

Mike, some cars are built Fridy afternoons and some are built Monday mornings no, I don't have a clue which are better or worst but, when humans are involved there will be differences.

Yep - same thing happening with the menu for the automatic heated front screen. Some get it, some don't.

Since the 3rd/4th  map update no roadside signs display  on "additional window-traffic signs" (Under" View" on nav screen)... Instead of the speed limit/no overtake  it shows only "Without  Traffic signs available" (In Portuguese)
I recall reading somewhere that maps no longer carry that data because many times that info is wrong... Maybe some countries  are still covered others not... Every map update my expectations keep going down the drain because it keeps not showing them... :( :( :(
