Can Women Park without 'Kerbing' their wheels!?

Featured Replies

Just gor back from Bells in Swindon after my Wife found her Fabia's Front Passenger wheel as flat as a pancake!...

Looks like she'd driven over a spike/nail (which had come out), so I pumped it up and drove to get a new tire!...

Anyhew...

Whilst the tire was off, the Bloke pointed out that the Rim was bent!!, Looks like my wife is a serial Kerber!!,  The Hub caps have been replaced twice, and the current ones are cracked and rattle over bumps!!!...

You can see the Bend by the Blokes hand (s'cuse the blury-cam shot)

So my Question to all the Ladiez of BriSkoda...

Can you Park your car without Kerbing your Wheels!!!!!????... :o:D;)

I'm worried now as she's out in my 8 week old GL-II Estate with very nice New Alloys and Very New, Very Expensive (Eco) tires on!! :( :( :(

At an motoring group meeting I jokingly said that I could pick out all the cars in the car park driven by woman.  When challenged to actually do so I just picked out all the cars with damage to the nearside front wheel.  Over 80% of the cars I choose were actually driven by women.

My daughter's old Ford Ka was always having the wheel trim on the nearside front wheel replaced due to being damaged.  Since she changed to an Audi TT with expensive alloys and tyres she seems to suddenly be able to avoid striking kerbs!

Personally i need to stay well away from kerbs or i damage rims.

Often i get out a car and am so embarrassed at how far from the kerb i am, i re-park and am still so far from the kerb when i look again. I am much worse in narrow cars than in bigger wider ones.

I have some really really scraped Wheel Trims, and i wonder sometimes what plonker did that,

but i know it must have been me.

My brother in law parks purely by touch.

His old Honda was knackered, you could read anything on the sidewalls of the tyres and all four alloys were so badly kerbed it liked like someone had taken an angle grinder to them

The answer to the OP must be 'yes' as my wife has never kerbed alloys on any of our cars.

Don't know about women but I've seen many a man kerb his wheels including driving up the kerb with instant deflation of the tyres.

Other than that this thread is too sexist for me :giggle:

My misses abandons the car in a slot for me to park it! When shes out on her own she parks where curbs aint a problem. Think she understands how much i hate the idea of scrapped alloys! Especially Monte ones.

Saying thay i csnt swing in to a parking slot along a kerb as i have NO idea where the edge of the car is haha so i reverse every single time whether its big enough for a bus or not. Its never failed me!

My misses cant reverse parrell park....hence the abandonment!

I always lower my kerbside wing mirror to make sure!

Exactly the same here.

hi all,

my girlfriend has damaged all my alloys on my lovely green vrs,but i could not say anything as i kerbed it on the first day of ownership on way home from the dealers, and i have got rear parking sensors.

ps my girlfriend cannot park and she toots the horn outside my house and i have to go out and park up for her.

ps;she always parks out of the way in supermarket carparks under trees and i have to clean up all the bird poo

Yes???? Weird and slightly patronising question

I am with italianjob here. Get near the kerb, lower mirror and then reverse nearer, whilst watching carefully.

Funnily, I find women easier to teach parking to, then men. Men think they know but don't, women listen and do!

Indeed, neither has mine.

My wife used to be pretty terrible for it, but in fairness shes not much of a petrolhead; in fact i do her head in as all i go on about is cars.

She has however I think more so to prevent an argument (as I also have OCD about car dings and scrapes even though i know in my mind its just a lump of metal I probably wont even own anymore in 6 months to a years time) now very considerate of alloys, well my alloys at least. Probably not so bothered about her own but then shes on 16" wheels with 55 profile tyres so a bi5 more forgiving than the 40 profile 18" on my vRS (funny as not so long ago they'd be considered quite big and low profile).

In fact the wheels on my wife's Golf have 2 kerb marks, both done by me.
