polybush top mounts

Featured Replies

Just wondering if any one has had any experience with these. I've fitted them and seem to be having some trouble with them. I used the polo top plates as recommended by the seller but there was no gap between the plate and body. These started pulling through the hole in the body!! Now the steering is grumbling ( sounds like my new bearings are ruined already!) I think my standard top mounts will be going back on this weekend. Mk1 octy vrs forgot to say.

  • Up date on this thread folks,   Well fitted the Poly bush top mounts and kept the VRS top plates and 3 days of running and i have to say no issue. The drive is a little better for me because i benef

Does not sound right to me. Poly top mount for a vrs should work with a vrs top plates. A polo is a different set up completely so if he states use polo then are the actual poly top mounts for a polo too?

Read about this on various other forums, Powerflex bushes work with standard VRS top plates, but the red Polybush ones are shallower and need shallower top plates i:e Polo, have heard of the same problem you are having and some people have cut the cup off  on the VRS top plates and used them as washers on the Polo plates which seems to help but a bit of a bodge job, I believe you can also use Audi 80/90 top plates but not seen any pictures or feedback to confirm if this works.

Got them from creation Motorsport off eBay. Stated as fitting golf bora Octavia etc. There is a thread on this item on the internet but that was for mk4 golf I think. Just wondered if any had fitted them to a Octavia?. The idea with the polo top plates is they aren't as deep as the standard Octavia ones so don't touch the top of the mount. The trouble is there not as wide either so mine were pulling through!! Not great like. They also state lower by 10mm.

Hmm to me if the poly push is not designed to work with the other vrs std stuff then a bad design and mixing up other vag group parts sounds risky specially when talking about components like suspension. That is why I go with super pro or powerflex as tried and tested on these cars.

Yeah the idea of the poly bush is not just to give a firmer ride but also allow 10mm further travel on lowered suspension so the shock still has some travel to absorb road conditions and still allow user to have car same ride height.

As the octy is the golf mk4 floor pan and chassis as per bora and audi TT/A3 and seat leon they should fit as else should not be advertised for even a bora as same suspension.

Some one gave me some red creation poly top mounts. Think I will leave alone for now.

I agree. It sounds like they've trashed both top mount bearings in less than two days the steering sounds awful. Andy 68 I've also heard about Audi 80 mounts fitting the Octavia and getting a drop but I think the bearing and top nut off that car need to used as well.

I have the 10mm smaller poly top mounts with my KW V3s, all other parts are OEM.

So did you keep your standard top plates Rob? When I tried mine they stuck up from the body by over an inch. If the car was jacked up with those on I imagine the strut would drop down. Those hump back bridges ain't looking too appealing at the moment!!

All a bit chintzy borders

Bowders sorry

Your top plates look OK there. Mine weren't like that. My car is still on standard struts though not coilovers but I can't see how that would affect the height of the plates. Totally confused now!!

Rob what is the drive like with those installed. Does it feel a lot stiffer than OEM mounts?

I have powerflex top mounts and they fit find and look very similar to standard mounts and they have been on 5k and not caused any issues

I installed them when going from VMAXX coilovers to Kw V3s, so the ride improved significantly. Can't really comment on how they compare to stock bushes, sorry.

I see what is going on here. the polo top plates are flat pretty much. but the polys aren't enough smaller to warrant that. just put normal top plates on. your mechanic is a dafty

I have LCR ones fitted so the Powerflex won't serve my purpose which is to raise coilovers slightly to improve shock travel and rebound without actually raising ride height.

By fitting something like the Red mounts they are 10mm shorter and thus allow shock travel height to go up 10mm without actually raising the car height which is what i want..

I fitted polo 6n top mounts and top plates to mine, fit like a glove and dropped me 15mm. that much extra shock travel can mean the difference between a good and a bad ride when your low

This is exactly what was happening to mine. Standard top plate sitting too high polo one pulling through the body. What I don't understand is how some people having no bother with them and some having loads. Rob's car looks fine with them.

Aye polo 6n i think 94 -2000. They fit the octy bearing too, and spring hats
