Poverty spec Audi A4 allroad otr price £31,810, highest spec yeti otr price £27,050, hardly a comparison.

You what yeti man, don't believe a word I say, I know what's sat on my drive for the price of £27500 approx, oh, and a yeti, I know which is the better car...... I'll leave it at that, I can see why some people leave this forum......

Chill pill needed!

Might be my maths, but I got it "down" to £31,750, but i might have missed something.

Which ever figure it is, it is still a bloody site more expensive than a fully spec'ed Yeti.

And to be honest, when you look at the difference in the Insurance grouping and it's size there is no way I'd want the Audi.

I think FB's point was that there are deals to be had on pricier cars, on occasions, that can bring them into the apparent price range of cars from the "class below". An Allroad A4 for £27.5K sounds like a very good deal, but then it's still nearly 30% more than say a £22K broker deal on a DSG Elegance Yeti...

I'm sat in a new a4 allroad, with nav, etc etc dtd £27500, would you like to see the paper work?

Unfortunately for your argument, I think pretty much everyone here knows that DTD is Drive The Deal, a discount broker.

So I went and checked what price they'll do an A4 Allroad with the same kit that a Yeti L&K comes with as standard.

£30,773.42 (£7342.85 off list)

So no, you can't get an A4 Allroad with the same kit as a Yeti 4x4 DSG L&K for £27,000 (and it's easy to check this if you don't believe me).

Looks like Audi can't give them away - that's very nearly a 20% discount!

Maybe...  but now go and work out the price for a 4x4 Octavia Estate....  with the same spec as the Yeti (and Audi) and you will find it is near £31,000 or even more.  So yes maybe not apples and apples comparing the Yeti to the Audi but the deal is still there and you pays your money and makes your choice.

This was exactly what I did.

Looked at a new Yeti, looked at a new Octy mk3 4x4, looked at an A4 Allroad through DtD.

They are all fairly close on price, if you remember the Yeti is smaller and a bit cheaper in similar spec.

Hmmm, great minds. ;)

I did the same. The thing thats worth bearing in mind that doesnt really show up in the spec and finances is what they are like to drive compared to each other on the road. Ive found everything ive driven on the new platform (Leon, Octy 3, Golf 7) preferable to the older MLB platform cars such as the current A4 (launched in 2008 iirc). In terms of nimbleness and general car to driver communications I think the new platform is excellent compared to what they replace. The space in the rear of the cabin and the boot is also far better in the newer cars.

The Audi is indeed available with up to 24-25% off if you catch the pretty much stock vehicles that are being ordered up en mass by a few dealers that then sell via DTD will minimal profit. The new A4 (the B9) will be arriving end of next year so the deals will only get better leading up to it. The new car will be based on the new MQB platform so should be able to take immediate advantage of lower weight and better internal space packaging. :)

I don't dislike the A4, and that price is pretty keen for what you get (even once you've added on all the stuff that should be standard).

I was simply pointing out that the idea that the A4 Allroad and the Yeti are the same price requires a certain dogged avoidance of fairness.

Yes, what you can actually buy them for.

Having now used drive the deal to get my Nissan LEAF I'd have no qualms using them again as it all went fine.

But at the end of the day one of the cars is heavilly discounted because it's an older model.  The others are not.

And probably not worth the additional; £5000+ without the hefty DtD discount when it's a new model?

Maybe it's for parking between sheep or sheep dogs to tempt freshacre back to the fold (no pun intended)

You don't know how Bluddy near the truth this is, Tim.

I'm having my garden/paddock landscaped at the moment, and the boys have been given access through the Farmer's field to save chewing up the drive, and to get to the bit where their vehicles could park up and unload, the uprooted a fence post, cut the sheep wire, and folded it back on itself up in the corner. Up until then the field had been empty, but that night the farmer turned a small flock of rampant lambs loose, and despite having juicy munchy clover up to their armpits, the woolly baaaastards decided to explore under the loosened wire, in amongst the workings and right down to the house.

Overnight, deep in dollops of dingleberries, the gravel was scattered far and wide, the lawn pockmarked by galloping cloven hoofed feet, my prized roses rosebuds amputated from their trunks, and a very special tree (grown from a "Twig-by-Post") robbed of its hard won half dozen leaves - the havoc wreaked was indeed devastating.

If, repeat, IF the car had had parking sensors fitted all round it would have worked overtime weaving through the carcasses that I had created with my bare hands - if I could've caught the munching mischief makers!!

The joys of country living, eh?

All this comparing the Octy and Audi made me have a look at the Audi configurator earlier (first lunch break in god knows how long), and all though I didn't spec up an Allroad I did find that I could get an R8 up to £150,000 without trying too hard

I did the configurator on the porsche website, 991 gt3 with a couple of extras, £110000, just need to win the lottery now....

Ahh, the lottery, still keeps evading me  :(

Whenever I'm bored enough for that sort of thing (more often than I'd care to admit) I like to see if I can double the price of an Audi by adding options.

It's tricky, but I can usually get very close...

When you start adding all the fancy interior trim options and a "choose your own colour" option (usually £2.5K), it's not difficult to get any Audi up to silly money.

I've been specing an A3 Sportback as a replacement for the Octavia and I've added £6,255 of options without trying. I added £4,565 to a Golf GTD, but only £2,385 to a vRS estate.
