engine swap

Featured Replies

Evening all, has anyone ever put a vrs engine and box in a non-vrs fabia? i have a 1.4 tdi fabia and was wondering if it's possible? are the engine mounts identical? any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Not much of a fabia person but afaik it can be done, but the wiring looms are different and you'll need the ecu, clocks, key might also be needed but i'am sure someone will know more

yeah i can't see it being impossible. and i thought as much with the loom and stuff. was thinking of buying a rear end or side write off and using the engine, box loom etc.

thanks

It will probably be cheaper to insure a VRS rather than a 1.4 with the engine swapped out.

i have trade insurance so it makes no difference to me. but buying a vrs means 3-4k where as the engine swap will be more like 1k if its possible. just a thought anyway

got to watch with all that carry on

Yup, its been done.

Devonutopia has a 100PD converted to a vrs and pushed to above 300+bhp.

There's a couple of estates too, AFAIK they're mostly 100PD's not heard any 1.4's being converted myself but coulkdnt see it too hard if you got a written off VRS to pull over everything from.

To do "cheap" you will want a whole wrecked fabia vRS for parts.  And you will want to move over all the clocks, wiring (ALL the wiring!), ECU, engine mounts, engine, box, driveshafts, hubs, subframe/consoles/swingarms, MAF, MAP sensor, N75 (vacuum)

Essentially you need to have everything over from the wreck, in to your car.  The only blessing for you is like me, you have a PD fuel tank already, so that side of things should be the same as a vRS.
