I'll try and keep this brief.

Earlier this year had the engine (2 tdi pd 140) rebuilt. Since then have been getting no more than 36 mpg on the trip but 40 mpg brim to brim.

The performance has been fine and no codes showing.

In order to try and improve the situation had a hybrid re map, Changed all the filters and cleaned the MAF.

My driving style now is like miss daisy and still can't get anymore than 40 mpg.

I have been informed by others I should have been getting 46 mpg pre re-map and 50 mpg post re-map.

Does anybody have any ideas as to where I should be looking next?

I certainly wouldn't have spent money on the remap without resolving the underlying problem properly first.

I think it would be worth checking the timing. Find somebody with vcds to plug in to your car and read the torsion value. This can have a big impact on pd engines economy

Thanks Nick, what values should they expect. It's just the garage have already plugged the vcds and said all values are fine?..

I get 44mpg from my 2.0 4x4 so yours ain't right.

Thank you. That has been the best advice I have been given on this issue.

I will be contacting the garage next week to check and adjust timings if required.

Thanks for you help . I'll keep you posted on outcome.

Car is back from the garage with no faults found. Tension was fine. Maybe I'll just have to get used to Skippy's thirst.

But a big thank you for your help and advice.

Did they check the timing with VCDS?
