My first 1000 miles in a citigo sport, report.

Featured Replies

I’ve now driven 1000 miles in my sport and I must say I ive loved it.

The car is roomy in the front (I doubt the back seats will get used), comfortable,  feels like a biger car on the road and is great fun to fun to drive - the handling is fantatic. Who’d have thought that 60bhp would be so much fun!

So far I’ve averaged ~53mpg but recently it has started to head towards 60mpg as the engine has started to bed in and im probably driving a bit more sensibly!

There are a few minor points but nothing I cant put up with. The main ones being having to reach for the seat belt , the parcel shelf ;), the window switches not lighting up, the lack of heated mirrors on the sport, playing music from an SD card via the PID is IMO too much like hard work -  I either use BT audio or the aux in lead. Oh and I really miss cruise control :D

There might seem like a lot of negatives there but they don’t really impact on my ownership and when you are in effect buying a budget car sacrifices have to be made somewhere to keep the costs down.

So far I’ve added the TT pedals, MTECS, Osram nightbreakers and will at some point add the split boot. I’m also really tempted to spend the £400 or so to add cruise. If I replace this with another citigo in 3 years time I’ll take all these things off again :D

Heres to the next 1000 (or even 35000) miles!

Agree with you on most things there. I'm 1500 miles now and the engine is nice and loose. Fuel consumption is excellent. Even better than my Octy diesel was. Can't really fault anything except for what you say about illuminated window switches and also one touch window switch would've been nice too but it's a real fun car to drive :)

How do you add cruise? I thought it couldn't be done with the ECU in the sport.

Apart from checking they work when I got it, I haven't had to use the window switch yet. :)

I haven't checked to see if my car is compatible yet, but you can pay the extra few hundred pounds I believe to get it updated.

Erm, drove the car back from work very enthusiastically today and still averaged 49mpg!

I cant live without the cruise control so added it to my car while ordering it. Yes, you can add a retrofit for £400 ish.

About time we saw some pictures of your car with the 16" Serpens I think! :)

Now averaging 55mpg, which agrees to within 0.5mpg of the PID.

Still missing cruise, infact i sometimes find it hard to maintain a constant 70mph for some reason, probably because im out of practisre always using cruise in the past  .

I've noticed it's hard to maintain 70 too. I'm going to make some new dials up as I can't actually see the top of the speedo ;)

Cruise I think is going to be something I want to add... Thanks for the above info, will be very handy.

as I can't actually see the top of the speedo ;)

.

I find this too with my driving position. Being tall I sit back.

He hasnt got a whole car yet...

He's buying it bit by bit

Ask again next spring, he should have got the lot by then :D

How are you finding the ride quality on the bigger wheels? Tbh this is one of my concerns as mine will have them. I've been a bit worried that they will affect ride and economy a bit too much :(

I think your concerns are warranted

You'd be much more comfortable riding on my alloys, with some fluffy bank notes comforting your back pockets :D

I'm finding the ride fine. Fromwhat i can remember its a little bit harsher than the elegance i test drove on 14s, but i have no complaints about the ride quality.

Cheers.

The Sport i test drove was fine.. IMHO it was quieter and had better ride quality than my Octy vRS does.  so will see how i get on with the serpens before making a decision.
