Best aftermarket parking sensors? Or are OEM cost-effective?

Featured Replies

As above

Has anybody to any recommendations for aftermarket rear parking sensors?

No doubt price and ease of fitment will feature in replies.

Or, is an OEM kit better, and cost-effective (how much are they?)

Thanks in advance.

I know of someone who fits aftermarket kits for a living. Very cheap option compared to oem kits. Colour coded to match bumpers and wired up easily. They do the same job so they get my vote every time.

How much are they? Are they actually any good?

My mate has some in his car and still managed to reverse into a wall due to lack of concentration!

.....there are numerous/many topics in here suggesting where to buy so you might have to some reseach as i did too, personally i bought some from ebay and work fantastic to day cant remeber whay he is called but it is someone mentioned in here  as i had to do the same research in her that led me to him. too bad these cant become stickys so people dont have to ask the same thing again and again and save others some time finding these :hi: also i would encourage people to first try and search in this great forum  first before asking something that is already answered by many other members

Yeah the point is to stop when the beeps get faster!ha. My guy charges £100 supplied and fitted iirc.

Definitely look aftermarket. But for a fraction of the price.

£13 off ebay, and a Sunday evening to fit. Job done. Really quite easy, after you've convinced yourself that drilling one inch holes in your rear bumper IS the right thing to do.

....couldnt be said better.

...i have both rear view camera and the beeping sensors ,if i had to choose one out of the 2 i would go for the beeping sensors. :giggle:

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'd be quite happy doing my own, although the link about fitting them (which was to Fabia-vRS site???) no longer works.

I have searched the forum but there doesn't seem to be any support of any particular make; Cobra are a big name but even on fleabay they are about £75.

I'm not averse to the price, butnid rather notmpaynthat much, especially if you giusbhave personal experience of, and can recommend a particular make....

John123,

Thanks for that;

Swmbo has a pioneer double din stereo with an icon for a reversing camera - what make did you fit, and how much / how difficult was it?

If you want the best then you need cobra a0358.

Check this thread

These are great sensors if you're willing to shell the £90 odd quid out and I guess it's still cheaper than a new bumper! They do still do the same as a £13 ebay set but do look more oem. Either way they both do the job well.

I really don't know about fitting the oem ones but I seem to remember them being plug and play and just needed switching on using vcds.

The after market ones are simple really , once you've drilled the bumper and mounted the sensors where you want them there is a control box you mount inside the boot. You then need to earth the kit and wire the other sensor wire into the wiring of the reverse bulb wire (pink and brown wire I think). You then locate the small speaker in the cabin,I found behind the middle plastic cover of the doors. Tidy it all up and that's that.

The cobra system mentioned is £186 on eBay, the OEM skoda kit is £153; way too much for both IMHO...

Looks like I'll be searching for a cheaper kit then....

They are £35 more on Cobras uk site!

Think these look the dogs swingers, unless anyone else can suggest an alternative...?

Slight aside, are the factory fitted ones fitted actually onto the bumper above the swage line in the middle of the bumper, or just below?

You are looking in the wrong place. I paid £73.50 for my kit.

Here's a pic of the cobra a0358 kit fitted to my Volvo. Also fitted to mums and brothers passat in my other thread link

Rover220, my mistake, that is for a front AND rear kit (doh!)

Ate you saying to contact them then, and the price can be less than the advertised price (is there a discount they apply to Freedom members?)

I just sent a message asking for best price but I did buy 3 kits.

Vagshop.co.uk sell them for £79 with free delivery also.
