Car cut out the other day, engine was running but no power. Now it won't start at all. Mechanic is baffled says he got a cam shaft error, he changed the sensor, checked the timing, wiring, injectors, fuel pump etc. and can't get to the bottom of it. Heater fan won't work also (been that way a few months now) keeps blowing resistors and 40 amp fuse auto electrician says heater fan seems to be a wiring problem and not switch or fan itself. Would this problem be associated with the car not starting now? Could there be some kind of electrical problem causing all of this to happen? What advice should I give the mechanic to look for in case he missed something? Thanks

Mechanic said he tried everything Crankshaft sensors, Cam shaft sensors, timing, injectors, fuel pump. Said longshot could be the pedal but doesn't want to spend anymore time on it. The reading he is getting is Cranksensor. This is doing my head in as since I bought the car it's been nothing but trouble.

if he is using VCDS their should be a much more specific error code than just Crank Sensor.

Camshaft sensor isn't required to start an engine, only quick start.
