COLD BLOWERS. CANT GET COOLANT TO FLOW INTO MATRIX!!

Featured Replies

PLEASE HELP!

Got a 54 Fabia VRS and blowing cold air from the blowers.
Iv changed heater matrix, water pump and thermostat with still no joy.
It doesn’t seem like coolant is getting into the heater matrix.
ANY IDEAS MORE THAN WELCOME.
THANKS 👍

It's possible that water is actually going through the matrix. The way the heater works is by water constantly flowing though the matrix and the heat is simply shut off by a flap. The flap is operated by a motor unit which may have failed.

Thanks for your reply mate but positive not getting anything into it as both coolant pipes are stone cold going into it after it being run for a while..

^ Ah OK.

Check for residual pressure in the expansion tank when the engine is stone cold.

Try to remove the return hose at the matrix. Turn on engine and see if any water comes thru. It can be a airlock in the matrix.

Do any of you guys think it could be something called the Egr cooler?

Unlikely as the mk1 fabias (to my knowledge) don't have EGR coolers.
