prices?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, I have a 5Dr Sport on its way, very pleased with my deal I got which included trading in my old Alfa. We've now had a change in life plans and are now looking to buy another Citigo, probably an se. As this will be a no trade in deal I'm looking for the very best price I can get. So what kind of discounts have you guys managed to get? I've read the what car target price is 342 less than list but would like to hear if anyone has managed better?

Try Drivethedeal, broadspeed or one of the multitude of "brokers" on the internet?

bigdavy: I asked a similar question a while ago, but there weren't too many replies ...people a bit reluctant to discuss money matters.

Earlier in the year I got a discount (or "special allowance" on the invoice) of £830...that was cash sale, no finance deal. (At the time, it wasn't 0% but 3 years servicing was included). I opted for cash-sale... this on a built-to-order Elegance 75. When the car arrived (11 weeks wait from order, at the time)...it was fitted with privacy glass  -  which I had not ordered. The dealer didn't even suggest that I should pay for it...so the car I have is just on a grand less than it "should" be. However, I do have servicing to pay for....swings and roundabouts, I suppose. Hope this helps your negotiations!

....should have said - this was my local dealer...didn't need to scour the country, or the internet!

my local dealer (Robinsons in Norwich) told me skoda dealers don't discount cars as they have no trouble selling them :giggle: at which I laughed and walked out. An average discount is about £300, which I got on my fully loaded elegance, 75ps in white (£11,000 invoice price with discount, Simpsons Skoda Gt Yarmouth). Some may give more but may not be able to do with the 0% as the dealer has to put some money in I believe. he said that (as above) if it was a cash sale then up to £800 can be taken off. more important to me was reputation of the dealer! Robinsons Norwich customer service is non existent hence why most Norfolk people use Simpsons in Gt Yarmouth.

i think 300-600 off is a good target..

With a delivery queue for brand new vehicles that seems to be lengthening by the week, I suspect that generous discounts will shortly become a thing of the past, particularly if you are considering the free finance offer.

with the deals regarding free servicing, you need to weigh up the cost saving with a broker to a dealer when the servicing is included as I am unsure if the brokers can sell VW finance

my 2p worth

If you are looking at a cash deal, why not consider an ex-demo or a very low mileage used, save you taking the initial big hit?

I bought a one owner, 3 door, 60ps, SE with metallic paint with 440miles! four months old with an invoice for just over £9k paid by the 1st owner and snapped it up for under £7.5k (bargain)!

I'm picking up my 3 door sport tomorrow and the dealer took it down to £9495 :)

£300 discount on brand-new (pre-built) 5-dr 60PS Elegance, with a few options.

This was with 0% finance  / servicing deal and free mats.

This from a local dealer w/o too much hassle.

I got my sport for 9500. There's usually about 300 in a citigo but you'll get a better deal on finance at the minute so might get a bit more off and the free servicing. Even if you want to pay cash sign up for the finance then after 14 days withdraw from it and settle the difference in cash.

Some great numbers there, thanks guys!

Just to confirm I meant  cash deposit & pcp on the 0% free service deal.

Add to this, my extended family have also bought 2 other citigos from the same dealer after my deal so i've been instrumental in 3 sales in 3 weeks at the local dealer. i really feel they should be giving me a substantial discount on the 4th!!

I'm also considering asking for  paint option and the PID free of charge rather than a big discount. Any thoughts? Anyone negotiated free options?

you may get one (prob pid) but I doubt both, as dealers seem to have quotas and can easily fill them with little or no discount required to sweeten deals

unless you are desperate , may be worth waiting a month or two until the lull around xmas when they may be more ameanable to giving some discount etc

Understand your point, it is obviously harder when there's now a huge waiting list!

However, rightly or wrongly I think the dealer should be giving me an exceptional deal considering it's the 4th one in 4 weeks.

I have a feeling he thinks he has it made and i'm going to walk in and sign the papers without any negotiations.

yep we just ordered a 4th in just over a year from our dealer, but got a great trade-in

also got a great day out at goodwood for launch of new VRS a couple of months ago

Go look on the broker sites and see what they discount for the basic models - thats a starting point.

Dealers discounting cars is somewhat a dark art - adding extras and finance etc complicates matters as then they can "tweak" numbers to make the sale without seemingly giving the game away.

Trying to decipher the documents i have (0%pcp on a sport with the 16" wheels i didnt really want) they have discounted the car by a bit and also adjusted the price of the options.

Sounds good, I also got a great trade in on my original deal as did my father (no2) then my niece decided to get a sport and got the same deal as me except no trade in so they obviously made a lot more on it, ie list price & cash deposit = full profit.

This time there's no way its happening.

We got £500 off list on their demo - 3 days old and 72 miles on the clock.  Still got the 0% offer.  Didn't have to wait 12-16 weeks that we were looking at for an Elegance with ASG.

Back in last June I managed to get 400 more for my P/X with low rate pcp and 3 years free servicing

thought they couldn't sell demo's for 3 months as they get a good discount from skoda

Delighted to say Citigo no 4 successfully ordered today! I was stressing about nothing as I was given an excellent deal due to the previous buys.

Slight change of plan though, another sport has been ordered, this time in white :-)

So our family will have a red 5Dr sport & a white 5Dr sport. My father is getting an white se and my niece another white sport! We are now our dealers best customers :-)

No idea...but we bought it anyway!
