2007-2009 tdi octavia's with 2.0 engine any probs?

Featured Replies

my mate is about to seek out a new octy, hes been looking at buying around 2008, but im not sure of the reliability of the 2.0 tdi's.

any probs to look out for?

Can suffer from dpf problems but gutting it and a remap will cure it.

make sure recall done on injectors.

a good history recommended.

My PD2.0 140 didn't come with a DPF.

The injectors problems were on the 170bhp in the vrs.

Turbos can have problems - I had mine reconditioned for £ 500 earlier this year.

Other problems are the air con (touches wood mine is fine)

Make sure cam belt done at 4 years/60k miles

Other than that regular servicing and if its gotta lotta miles for for 10k oil changes (i've switched from variable to fixed now I'm getting old).

Just replaced the front disks/pads at 84k miles warped rather than wear.

Works 2007 Scout has needed work on the air con (new condenser I think) but otherwise engine has been fine.

Sarge.

My 2007 PD140 is showing the signs of most of the problems associated with this car / age: needs a cambelt change, DMF starting to go & turbo doing odd things.

However it is on 130000 miles!

The DMF was revised around about 2007 so if you get yours done, you can expect the new one to last a lot longer. Mine went at 130,000kms and the replacement is still in at 600,000kms!!

Had my 08 for 3 years and still happy, the cooling fans started coming on for no reason during the night but half a tin of wd40 and it hasn't happened since, it's had a lumpy tick over since I bought it and a remap didn't make any difference otherwise it's been great.

Where did you spray the WD40, on the relay ??

Hi k.young, how are you getting on with the DSG with that amount of distance on it?

I just sprayed it over the base of the rad where the the wires come out and all over really, I think it was luck rather than skill, bit awkward to get in but I extended the little tube, been OK for over a year now.

It's fine, it can make the odd "clunky" change at coasting speeds and it has only ever froze/stuck in a gear twice over the 600,000kms. I think it has had only 3 oil/filter changes!!!!
