500MB IDE Drive

Featured Replies

I have had a scout around, the only drive I have left in the <1GB range is a 200MB MFM drive in my Amiga A500+ Sidecar.

I have a 5gb SCSI 15k seagate cheetah stashed somewhere under the bed.....they still run as well.....useless thought as was part of a raid array of five disks....the other 2 popped and was left with 3.....dont want to get rid of them yet as there liked aged wine and have some sentimental value....

I've got a 60MB CPU based PC at my daughters .Tempted to install DOS 6 or lower on it to run Norton 4.5 and see if I can lift some data off a few old HDD .Norton 4.5 used to be great for recoverung floppies on my old 286 , and I've used it on win95 to look at some HDD, but not with thae same results as on lower DOS .

I haven't heard back yet from my mate, although the link that WapLord sent is ideal.

Fully working 543Mb HDD

das ist gut ja!

das ist gut ja!

sehr gut, ja! Couldn't believe the thing fired up straight away. Wouldn't like to try streaming from it mind :D

As said, google "EZ-BIOS", I think it was a Maxtor product that I used to use in the days of the 486's.

I think I've got a 420meg drive sat in a box at my folk's place, but I won't be over there for a while.

Cheers for the replies

I have heard back from him, and he managed to get a drive from somewhere else. Solent Spares looks very good though so he has a note of that!

Thanks Lee for having a look too. :)

No probs, couldn't believe it fired up after ~ 10 years :)

The old style stuff is normally better than the cheaply made rubbish we get now.
