Short Journeys / Occasional Use

Featured Replies

The company I work for has recently opened an office in my home town, so I no longer need to make a 70 mile round trip each day. I'm not sure whether the vRS would enjoy shorter journeys and infrequent use. It's only going to be a couple of miles to the office, in the summer I'll probably cycle. I was wondering whether there was anything I should watch out for / be made aware of when it comes to using the car infrequently? Probably only use it a couple of times a week, if that, once I start cycling.

Perhaps give it a few thrashing drives or longer distance each week. Your eco might go down because obviously diesel and short journeys aren't really friends.

Make sure your oil is nice and warm before you use too much right foot.

Yeah, I like to drive for fun anyway so I'll probably take it out for a longer spin at the weekends. I try to show mechanical sympathy until the oil is up to temperature. I was almost fishing for reasons to sell it, but I've since fallen back in love with it.

I do a 70-80 mile round trip give or take every Sunday, for a bit of fun and to give the vRS a run out :) Although I do quite a few miles in the week anyway!
