Hi all

New to the group, so hello to all.

Taking delivery of an Octavia Elegance fitted with the Golus wheels, which I believe are 7.5J x 18 with 225/40 x 18 92Y XL tyres.

Can somebody confirm size and more importantly offset.

I'm wanting to fit winter tyres, I believe my options are:-

a. Stick with 225/40 x 18 tyres, 92V XL and find suitable wheels? Possibly 8J x 18 BBS, with increased offset of 6mm?

b. Go to 225/45 x 17 tyres on 7.5J x 17, with same offset?

c. Go to 205/?? x 17 tyres on ?? X 17 wheels, have to calculate the offset.

Go with 205/55/R16 tires with 16x6J steel wheels. Much better for winter and significantly cheaper than anything above 16".

Including link to a PDF with a table of "approved" wheel sizes. The PDF also shows which sizes will work with snow chains.

But as TudorM says: If you're not worried about large alloys, just go 16x6J steel wheels. Thats actually what mine will be delivered with!

 

That said, I think the new Octavia is a bit more forgiving in wheel sizes than Skoda is stating in public! Aknedude has his car mounted with 225/35-19 with 8.5x19 ET40 Rims and a 5mm spacer on the rear wheels to get the rim clear of the caliber!
