Citigo Sport.. trip computer.

Featured Replies

While im idly staring into space cursing the waiting list for my Citigo - i had a thought.

Does the Sport come with trip computer as standard.. ie with the buttons on the wiper stalk to show on the little display under the speedo? - the brochure is a bit misleading as it lists it along with cruise control and parking sensors.

The demo sport i drove last week was a standard car, it had the little buttons, but not the cruise, or parking sensors.

Yes,the Sport does have the OBC as standard controlled by the button on the right hand stalk.

Also the PID shows all trip info as well

How accurate is the engine temp gauge? It warms up quicker than any other car I've owned!

Micro small engine quickly gets up to temp

Should be good for heating up the cabin in the coming winter months :)

In my car it goes from 0-90 deg C in really fast, showing only 5 degrees increments, then stays at 90 constant.

Once heated up, I have never seen anything but 90.

Yes, just like all the VAG cars it stays at 90

In a morning, by the time Im 2 miles from home on the way to work, its up to temperature already.

In my last car, it wasn't even up to 90 by the time I was parked up at work!

But that was a diesel

Like I said, these little petrol engines should be good for quick getaways in the frosty weather though :)

So if it shows over 90c I should be concerned? It might show higher after a long fast journey on the motorway for example.

I doubt it will go over 90 even then

Mine doesn't on motorway journeys anyway

An interesting post.  I believe VW designed the engine to heat up quickly, predominantly the car will be used as a city car and for more local journeys.  I appreciate that there are lots of owners on here that use them allot further, I will be doing the same, but I think they are normally used for more local journeys.

I read somewhere that quick warm up has something to do with how the head is cast with the integral exhaust manifold.

Also, just because the water temperature is upto temperature doesn't mean that the oil is too and therefore not open ticket to thrash it to death.  It may well warm up in 2-3 miles from a cold start but if used like this for a long period of time I can foresee "white mayonnaise" under the oil filler cap as every other car suffers if treated like this.

My Panda 100 HP used to warm up quickly as well, but my Smart diesel takes 3 to 4 miles before the heater gives any heat.It has not got a temp dial like a lot of cars these days,so its hard to know when the engine has warmed up other than by how well the heater warms you up.

.It has not got a temp dial like a lot of cars these days

I used to have the Torque app on my phone in a cradle connected to the obd2 port on my last car.

I had it showing rev counter and turbo boost in colour coded dials.

You could have any engine info showing though, including temp gauge.

Maybe you could do the same in your Smart?

Obviously, now I have the PID, that displays all the info anyway, so I dont use it now.

The whole set up cost me around £15 including cable and the app itself.

Just a thought anyway :)
