Need abit of help or advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

You may remember that I posted a car stolen 2 weeks ago it was my mums blue Citroen berlingo multi space the reg was bg56 LFH, call the police if you see it.

Unfortunately due to emptying the caravan the day before my spare key for my vrs was in the glove box as we had not long come back from Europe :/

So I'm a key down and the possible chance my car may disappear :(

Is there anyway I can make my car forget the key so it won't start if they come back ?

Your help would be much appreciated

Cheers guys

Hi mate

i can delete you're old key from the system easily enough. You can either pop up to me in Huddersfield(roughly 60 miles from Notts) or I can come to you if you cover my traveling costs etc

I work all over the country & will be down your way at some point but don't know when & i'm sure you'd rather get this done sooner rather than later

Craig

You could remove the fuel pump fuse (F28) to stop the engine from being started.

I suggested it as a get out of trouble fix, not a permanent solution.

Steering lock? If they have the key tho unless you change the locks they can still get in your car by putting the key in the door lock? Id also be tempted to just buy one of those cheapo £20 alarms and just wire it direct to the battery as a temp thing. So if the doors do open its going to sound an alarm

+1 for the steering lock... I used to have a dislock thingymebob that went completely over the steering wheel on my series 1 escort and it was a thatch approved thing according to the insurance company..... Or if your parking it for the night at home why not a caravan wheel clamp or something like that .. I know it's overkill but it's a visual deterrent ....:)

Buy a big fecking German shepherd and leave it in the car :)

Bloke near me had a shortened mini with no roof or doors. He had a massive rottweiler that just sat in the passenger seat.

Cheers for the replys guys , as a temporary solution I don't stay at home overnight and go over only to do bits and pieces to the car.

But I feel it's only a matter of time and my vrs is my pride and joy so ideally If need to change the. Locks and barrel or have 2 keys coded to the car

It's gutting really as it's a negative when I do come to sell it :(

Anyone got any spare locks knocking about ?

Cheers

Even if you get the lost key removed from the immobiliser they will still be able to unlock the car. Changing the locks and recoding the immobiliser is the only fool proof way to do it.

Could you not claim for it over your mums insurance.

That's a possibility however the personal items cover won't even cover the samsung galaxy s3 and her work phone so it's almost game over before I've even asked the question.

Cheers
