Hi Guys   Thought Id bring this up as its turned out to be a serious (ish) issue. Had the Monte in for its first service last week and pointed this out to the technician. He said it was the inner st

Update, skoda kept the car over night, needs track rod ends. Parts need ordering over night.

Are you getting the bushes done too? If you are could you ask the service guys if both should be carried out and what are Skoda UK guidelines? If you can get a TPI number off them that would be amazing.

Thanks for the update D15VRS

They told my son (his car) that it's the bushes in the track rod ends that are making the noise. I'm told their replacing the whole track rods. Don't know if the bushes are built in or what, but that's what skoda are doing.

I don't know what the track rod ends consist of either. Will have to wait and see.

So lil update after a bit of driving, the car has had new track rod ends and new bushes. As far as my son mentioned, the service guy behind the desk showed my son a PDF that highlighted the issue as known by skoda on the mk2 fabia.

Overall very happy with rainworth skoda at Mansfield.

Could you say for others,

Petrol or Diesel Fabia and when First Registered & how many miles covered.?

Has the car already had a Service,

and did you have to approach the Dealership about some issue,

or did Skoda or the Dealer contact or tell you?

Petrol fabia vrs

I believe first registration is around September 2013, it has the new cthe engine.

Covered just over 22000 miles

The car has been serviced before the son purchased it

The son approached our local dealership, they booked it in, had a look and fixed it. Simple as that.

Cheers for that.

I was thinking it was a Monte Carlo and a Manual.

Interesting that it is a vRS & DSG.  Up to now i have only heard of Steering Rack Issues with them, and not the bushes.

Thanks.

I take it the Bushes were a Warranty Item that they identified and not part of a TPI .

Put down to an issue caused by the Steering & possible Misalignment if there was any.

Anyone with the Steering needing Work Carried out should bring up the Bushes with the Service Desk Manager and Technician,

and if they have had premature tyre wear /uneven wear, then have a discussion with the Dealer or Skoda UK on some

action on Compensation or Tyres Supplied by Skoda.

Skoda CZ & a Faulty Build or Components causing the extra expense with tyres after all.

Did anyone get written proof that this work was done when they collected their car? My local Skoda dealer told me that because I didn't pay for the work (warranty did) then I didn't receive any written proof. Was just to put in the service history, but the dealer could look it up with the VIN number on a computer system.

Your car, your responsibility so ask the Warranty Provider that paid for the work to send a copy of the Invoice for Parts & Labour,

It is not a Data Protection Issue, you can see the Data they hold on you and your car.

As to the Dealer.

Was this a Service Desk Receptionist or Service Manager at a Dealership.

They can look at your Warranty History on the Car, they can look at their Work Sheet and what they charged Skoda.

They can press 'Print' and there is what was on their screen on hard copy.

Yes they can check with the VIN, and the Registration Number, just like when you book in for a Service, Give the Registration Number

and it shows the vehicle.

Had my track rod ends done on Weds this week - noise from 3,500 or thereabouts and work done at 6,000.  They (Blade Bristol) gave me paperwork for the work carried out without me requesting it.

I get that creaking noise when on a full lock whilst reversing from my drive,Im just a bit iffy on whether to return it to the dealer or not.

My alignment is a bit off aswell......when driving at speed on motorway I get a juddering feeling that can be felt in the steering.

I dunno if the dealership will do anything about alignment issues tho.

Getting back to the creaking noise tho.....mine comes from the passenger side front wheel.

It could be something completely different to whats been talked on on this thread but its an issue that ive goto address.

Mines a mk2 monte july 2013.......ill keep ye postedon any developments.

If it is a 2 year manufacturers warranty in Ireland then get it in and have them do it,

and they need to do the Alignment when doing the work.

They need to check the steering and replace parts, so need to do the alignment check and set.

As it is the car is hardly safe, so Warranty or not it needs checked for faults, repaired and alignment set.

& Wheel Bearings, Suspension, Brakes checked.

Juddering at high speed could be an unbalanced wheel.

So, very ****ed off with AC but that won't surprise most or even me tbh!! Booked in for warranty work for track rod ends for today, booking made 3weeks ago. Phone call yesterday at 230 to confirm I am TAKING my car to them at 0915 and COLLECTING it at 5, no.....they were meant to be picking it up from me at work and dropping it off, like last time, which they fudged up too. They didn't collect it and when they finally sorted it they sent it back to me and left their driver stranded cos they told him I had a car to return! Anyway, phone call at 345, we don't have the parts for the job we need to expedite them from Germany it will take a further two weeks! They're track rod ends not golden *******s! They refused to look anywhere further than the seat and vw dealers next door. Wouldn't consider overnight courier from another branch either. Said they would have to rebook and they would call me before close of business.....no call. No call today either to let me know what is going on. The service girl said it was nothing to worry about its just a noise and it doesn't effect the drivability of the car. I asked her about the geometry and tracking on the car and said that would be compromised and that being the case tyre wear would be uneven and accelerated. She said hmmm maybe, I said I wanted full tracking done and a tyre inspection, if the tyres are found to be wearing unevenly I expect them to be replaced FOC. I will be raising a ticket with Skoda UK on Monday.

Am I being to harsh and expecting to much, am I tired after a long week or would others feel the same?

Your dealer sounds unorganised. Skoda will be charged by your dealer for alignment after the track rods are fitted. Just ask for a photocopy of the wheel alignement data sheet that they have to send to Skoda.

If it is a creaking at any speed it is likely  a steering rack issue

If the noise appears to be more local to the cabin and you can feel a rubbing or a clicking on the steering at low speed then it will be the airbag that is loose.  Very difficult to diagnose as it does not appear to be coming from that area but it is loose at the back so the sound emanates down the column until it bounces back making it seem to be in the column rather than the wheel.

I will ask for a copy of the data sheet thanks. The dealership is run by monkeys! SUK managed to get the part organised within 3 days so I have to book it in next week for the job to be done.

Probably a dumb ass question but.....how can the track rod ends be checked without piercing the rubbers and then having to replace them please?
