stalling

Featured Replies

anyone else had their vrs just decide to stall when trying to pull away from a junction??? im either beating the fbw throttle or something is going wrong lol

normally on quite spirited starts the engine just doesnt seem to rev when i tell it too some times :S

I found the Fabia almost impossible to stall, and after I fitted the tuning box, I could actually pull away in 1st just by lifting the clutch (and not giving it any gas!). Not quite as good as the Disco which could actually pull you up an incline without touching the pedals

scooby my standard one can pull without using gas and can climb without it too :S

its only happened a few times but its when bringing the clutch up fast i press the go go juice but it seems to have a delay sometimes :(

I have done on the rare occasion I tried to pull away in third gear, not first. ;)

Mines stalled a few times while just sitting at lights in neutral.

I've done it when the Aircon has been on and I've tried to pull away thinking I was in first but really I was in second.

My mum has stalled it in the middle of a busy roundabout  that was urm.................fun

its in first im not that silly ;)

I fint the vRS stalls very easily for a diesel, but only once - bloody violent affair! :thumbdwn: Soon learned to set off with the clutch (no gas required if crawling in traffic).

You do get lazy though, crawling onto roundabouts in 4th etc because used to having torque then crawling over the line... :)

agreed for a diesel it is easier to stall than the rover I drive, it is also very violent when it does :(

yeah it certainly does like to let you know when it does

I have found the fabia vrs throttle has a fairly long travel, you need to press it down quite a bit just to get 1500rpm

goodas im not sure if its long travel or lag in the fbw system the 172 had similar symptoms

With reference to those that have said they stall a lot......... is this you ?? ;)

you could be right about the fbw, i found i soon got used to it. Drove my sisters A3 2.0tdi last week and it was exactly the same.

I've stalled it a couple of times - trying to make a quick getaway with not enough revs...

I don't like it when it stalls. You get a mighty thud and its reluctant to start... Horrible, sounds like your really hurting the engine!

Fine now though as I'm now used to the car...

the 172 used to continue reving once you took your foot off lol only a fraction of a second but you could notice it

oh and people also say you get better performance if you feed in the gas rather than stomping it the 2 things could be linked with lag in the fbw system ??

I noticed the Fabia compared to the 172 is alot more responsive on the throttle, I think the FBW is alot better. I would of suggested maybe there is an intermitent fault with the FBW, maybe a vagcom checkup is in order ?
