I really want to install either a PD160 kit or a Pipercross Viper induction kit - but which should I get?

 

Btw. does anyone have a video, so I can hear what a difference in sound it makes? Joe, M9YTY... anyone?

If you do it like mine you will have to cut the oem pipe just to worn you unless you have moved your battery to the boot. Just to warn people as i dont want the finger pointing at me if you buy tye filter and cannot fit it in with out abit of bodging like me.

You can buy smaller ramair filters with 80mm necks which may be easier to fit as mine is pretty big, the photos don't do it justice (thats what i tell the ladies anyway )

Nice Kyle! I like the rolled out tips! Used to have twin rolled out on mine but the tar and all the crap etc getting stuck under the lip would drive me insane!

I think I will get a mufflerectomy made up after winter so I can hear my hybrid! A little worried about it being too loud when defrosting etc for now :(

 

I had the same exhaust on my rs turbo, always loved a 3" rolled out tip. Hope it doesn't collect a load of crap I want it to stay shiny for ever!!! I'm worried about how loud it will be,its fairly quiet at the min as its got a sports back box on so hoping it wont be too loud with no boxes in. Did you get your leathers??

The pipercross foam I had on was really loud but when I went to a k&n it was quieter. Didn't get any turbo sound really when driving, could hear it whoosh with bonnet up and occasionally if really giving it some but was more pot luck than being able to make it make a sound

Can you see that Alex? That's with a standard turbo. I was going through Oswestry this morning in 2nd gear and the chatter sounded amazing through the streets!

Wondering what will be the loudest... the exhaust or the intake!?!! Definitely the exhaust I think - stupidly loud on full boost ha ha!

Its a bit of a bodge though as under the top join is just a thick seal tape from work with the red silicone cut open and wrapped around to make it look pretty . It will have a 45 ally pipe soon but after i have my maf deleted.

Doesn't chatter after high revs mate just around 2,500rpm it's nice to have some noise when driving steady and exhaust noise when giving it some!

IIRC that cover has been around the forum a fair bit! It's a dummy oil cap and I think it's for the 1.8T originally.

I like the standard one too, I have painted the gloss section of mine in red

Would be cool if it did it at high revs but it's a nice balance between the 2.

Coskev - when I pulled up at his house the other day he said that the induction noise is quite loud coming from mine.

There's so much difference in noise between the standard turbo and hybrid turbo though. I'm too used to the hybrid now! It used to make me smile when I first had it done and floored it!

I think I'm definitely doing to be finding a use for this spare foam filter I have now ;-)  I can't comment on the turbo difference noise wise, as I had my de-cat fitted at the same time. It does whistle like mad though!

Yeah it wont take much to weld the old back box on again, I'm sure it will be fine this is why I've not done it yet but I'm going to go for it!!

I got told it was mapped when i bought it but only boosts to 1.4 bar so its not  . Would of had it done sooner but wanted to sort out the decat, brakes and suspension etc so its all ready now.

I saw them they don't look too bad. I don't know of any actually I've never looked. Is a seat surgeon retrim out of your budget?

Although it was advertised as a 1.8T cover i think its actually from a pre PD tdi (90bhp or 110bhp) and yes the cap on the left is a dummy cap. I bought it because it meant i didnt have to trim my standard cover for the FMIC pipework as its 57mm and its real Carbon fibre.. so instantly turned the car into a racecar :D
