Rear seat 2013 Octavia?

Featured Replies

Still another month before I can test drive one in Oz.

Could owners please tell me how someone tall would fare in the back.

I have a lanky 6'1 teen.

Thanks

I'd imagine the "lanky 6'1 teen" would fair better in that than the Mark4 Golf.

I only had a look around one when my car was at the local dealer and I think the space is quite enough. Perhaps if you re-post/check the Octavia forums someone might be able to offer a little more constructive advice than my "yeah it looked alright" :)

I'm 5'9" and I had tons of headroom left while sitting in the back in a demo car. Your son will be perfectly fine. The space in the back in the O3 is impressive.

My other half is 6'6 he is fine in the back. Would be tight if he was behind a driver of the same size lol but what are the chances of that lol

Forgot to say loads of headroom

I'm 6 foot and can sit with plenty of leg/head room behind my own driving position.

That's in a vrs estate.

It's not that simple.

Me and a mate of mine are the same height - eyes/ top of head at same height.

But, his legs are shorter than mine and his torso is longer than mine.

Standing next to each other we are the same height but sitting down, I sit lower than him.

I would measure your teen from a seated position to head height then compare interior dimensions of the car.

I've sat in a couple and adjusted the drivers seat to be comfortable for me, then got out and sat in the back behind with no issues and I'm 6ft1.

You should be fine unless you are also a giraffe.

Hi Oz,

No worries mate. I'm 6' 4" and sat behind the drivers seat set to my optimal position so a fair way back than most due long legs and there was still plenty of room behind. Very happy with the rear space!

I'm 190cm. Can seat comfortable behind front seat adjusted to me. Not so many cars can do that. Don't worry.

I'm 6ft 2 and I can fit behind a driver who is 6ft with loads of room! Certainly no complaints about room in the back although the middle seat isn't great if you have three adult sized people in the back.

Very spacious in the back -even in the hatch which has a slightly lower roof line than the combi. My sister in law and my mum's boyfriend fit in the back of mine -both around 6'1 6'2 -she's got long legs, he hasn't particularly.

Thanks for the helpful replies!

Definitely worth waiting for the Oz release, then.

Test drove a VW Alltrack which I liked, but expensive at $AUD 60,000+ with options I'd like.

Another month for Octavias, then months again before vRS release.

No excuse, already out in NZ.

According to the brochure the front/rear headroom dimensions for hatchback and estate are as follows:

Hatch: 983/980 mm (standard) 1031/980 mm (vRS)

Estate: 983/995 mm (standard) 1031/995 mm (vRS)

Why is the VRS any different though?! That's odd... What am I missing?

At a guess it's cause the vrs seats are different.

Me too Oz!

Again I'm 6'4" and did exactly the same test, in addition our second viewing of the car was with No.1 son, who age 14 is 6'2" already, to convince us he would fit! All ok, plenty of room.

Tim

My son is 6"6" fits in the back fine,  myself I need the extra width,  2 1/2 inches  more than my old passat so works fine, as somebody else said better sizing than the Golf 7.

At 6ft 2 I had inadequate levels or room in the back with the front seat set in my own position. Really put me off.

Another 6'4 man who did the same test adjusting the drivers seat then sitting behind it. Very impressive. Did the same in the Superb and although there was noticeably more leg room there was less head room leaving me feeling more comfortable in the Octavia
