Insurance renewal due... Questions

Featured Replies

Hi all, Insurance renewal due in next couple of weeks, I'm 23, 1 years no claims, got the mum as 2ndry driver to reduce rates as my dad whos got more experience no claims puts it up by nearly £1,000...

I'm getting results of fully comp at £800 to £850! WAHT!?!?!?

I was paying that last year for a SAXO VTR 1.6.

Any tips to make it cheaper? Any recommendation? Do I legally need to declare the changing of colour on the car roof and grill?

I renewed with sky insurance today. Sky, adrian flux and brent care all gave my best prices but sky was best. Always worth a ring about.

Try one of those comparison sites and then try the cheapest direct - that way you cut out their finding fee.  If you've any sort of driving qualification, you could try IAM Surety - https://www.adelaideinsurance.com/iam-surety/

Thanks for that guys, Joe if you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying? And can someone answer the bit I made bold and underlined ;)

I think technically you do as it is a modification but personally I wouldn't bother.

Think you need to legally tell them everything that isnt factory, brentacre do not charge for modifications though. I got it for 500 straight, im 24 with 3 years no claims. Thats 8000 miles even though i have only done 3500 this year.

You would be advised to tell them about the paint job, simply because if they can get out of a claim they will

Certain colours are less obvious at night, thus we insured you for a Red car, but the two white stripes and yellow bonnet could not be seen Kerching

National

Paid £620 fully comp on Monday... That's with mods and a crash. I'm 23 and have 2 years ncb

I'll depress you all 33 more no claims than you could shake a poo covered stick at and this years renewal came through at £190 with £60 excess. The joys of being old

Beat you £144 this year, fully comp, 9 yrs NCB and really old.................

Do I legally need to declare the changing of colour on the car roof and grill?

Yes, absolutely.

Feel free to get in touch, we specialise in modified car insurance.

It wouldn't cost any extra with a modification friendly insurer and you'd have the peace of mind of valid insurance cover.   That peace of mind is worth it weight in gold when you have a claim.
