CG Motorsport SMFs and Clutch Kits -

Featured Replies

Having read the thread it seems to me both sides lack confidence in the product.

CG don't have the confidence to buy back the clutch to sell on and billy doesn't have the confidence in the product to sell on either.

Leaves me with no confidence in the product.

Tbh pitter patter of a company and customer over the internet looks cheap and unprofessional.

As i company i would not be on a car forum

All matters would be delt with professionally.

Everything can have a fault. I dont agree with the refurb. I think it should have been sent back and inspected and if deemed it was faulty then a replacement sent out and a reimburment of fitment costs to the customer.

Im not sure how this can be seen as a good/viable option. If the clutch was still on the car at the time this was offered, not only does he have to pay another for it to removed and refitted, he would then be left with an undriveable car whilst it is sent off to be redone. Which to most people is unviable as they depend on their car for work etc. You also then have to have a place for the car to stay whilst you wait for the clutch to be redone and most garages wont want a car just sat there for that period of time.

The only way its beneficial is if billy was to sell the clutch on, but then it is totally reasonable the points billy mentions for not selling it on. If there was an issue with the clutch after he sold it then the comeback would come to him, and I'm sure CG wouldn't get involved as they would say it wasn't sold by them so they cant help. So it would then become a complete hassle for billy.

It should be a privilege that a customer has choose to use their clutch over another brand. They should then do their best to keep the customer happy with their clutch as this builds good reputation. Simply offering to remachine the parts so they can be sold on doesn't look like great customer service IMO.

An offer to take a look at it and try and sort it, whether that be correcting fitting if it has been fitted incorrectly previously, or whether it be re machined and fitting. If this wasn't able to sort the problem only then do I believe a refund would be in order. This type of offer would certainly look better on CG as people can see they have really tried to help.

I can't comment on whether CG clutches are good or not along with most people who have an opinion on this. And it can be expected that every company will have a few bad reviews. But unfortunately this saga will leave a lot of people skeptical as to whether their clutches/SMFs are good or not. And even at such a good price, people wont want to risk their hard earned cash. Which is a shame as there is currently a lot of people looking to change over to an uprated clutch and SMF, myself included, and I'm sure most people would genuinely consider such a well priced option.

There's a lesson to be learned here I think..

Just seen this.

you have it in one mate.

they didn't want the kit for inspection, only to re machine it like new as they knew I wanted to sell and as said above, it would be down to me.

as it stands I have a contract with them, suitable compensation must be agreed. IF I had taken this offer then they have upheld their end. so its sorted and over.

I then sell on knowing that the original kit made my car less responsive and worse to drive and the new buyer also notices this, I then have to fight and do the same as CG have done now to me to try keep my money, possibly lose and refund the new buyer, then I have to go through all this again with CG Motorsport.

easier to sort it now.

Someone else has mentioned above that they don't seem to have much confidence in the kit? if they did this would be sorted.

The offer to go up was there and I made it. it was brushed aside.

They terminated PM with me and fired up the thread a lot of you have already read. I have merely responded to that thread in order to justify and defend myself.

450, including fitting.... I'm game.

So me and gfwc are in for this offer, 3 more?!

This is a very good deal though. Very good indeed. :)

Can always get it delivered like me :)

Can always get it delivered like me :)

I emailed them today! I was wondering if their dual friction clutch will be able to hold around the 200bhp

as mine will be for a 5speed gearbox, and car is originally 100bhp, they say will allow 40% increase

I assume it should be okay probably best to just ring up Monday and speak about your options with them :)

Hi Guys, just to clarify this offer is only on the SMF kits for the 1.9 VRs (ASZ engine code)

We have 2 left at this price and we are looking forward to everyone posting their thoughts on them once installed :)

PS all the orders ahve been for the kit delivered as they were too far away so if you want the free fitting that still available - we have no garage space until the end of next week though but it is a huge saving.

Thanks

Andy

Are any of the people in your GB running big power with a hybrid or GTB turbo?

How much for the smf and the 6paddle clutch
