This offer is open strictly to Briskoda members only and is available to the next 5 customers in a traditional group buy format.

When we have 5 buyers this offer is closed and I doubt we will be running it again, as its a saving of just under 50% on our list price.

Post below or PM me if interested.

Thanks

Andy

Where ? Andy come on play the game. A full refund for Billy would be a start !

You did say Where. And so below is just one of many bad reviews. Google is a wonderful tool !

Hi all,

I have a 2.2 diesel civic. About 4 months ago I had a premier tune stage 2 remap (thank you very much Farhad, he is a top guy, very helpful, I can’t recommend him enough for those of you thinking of a remap).

I decided about a month after to get a CG 6 paddle clutch from CG Motorsport in Leeds. Bearing in mind my car had now done 141010 miles on the original clutch and flywheel and of course to make full use of remap. Work was best described as “shabby” and very very poor customer service indeed. I decided to stay for about 20 minutes at the start of the job to just observe the manner in which the mechanic was working, he seemed to like throwing bits of my car to the floor at best described as careless, I was not impressed and really felt like saying forget it and driving my car away but I just let him continue because I was really stupid (my fault that I would later regret). After about 15 minutes he said “don’t you have to be somewhere?” by this time he had taken the air box out as well as a few other pieces so I decided to just leave him to it. Upon collection of the car I was assured the ferocity of the judder would decrease as I drive it more in urban areas. I also complained about the mechanic and I was told “Its just the way he is, he does do an excellent job though” which I was astounded at. You can’t treat customers like that and then deem it to be acceptable, without customers you wouldn’t have a business!

These are the things a Honda technician found upon inspection after I drove the car home that evening, negative battery terminal not secured properly (could be lifted off by hand), battery harness very loose (a car battery hurled towards you could be very nasty in a collision), O ring at the back of the air box not tightened at all (was just hanging on the pipe!), one of the bolts to hold plate for air box to sit on was loose (unscrewed by about a cm). To think I parted with nearly £800.00 for clutch and flywheel replacement, you would expect the work to have been to at least a minimum standard. My friend who is a technician at a Honda dealership came round my house in the evening of the day of fitment to see the difference for himself of the stage 2 remap, so he pointed out/witnessed these “school boy errors” by CG clutches. He just sighed, and said “some mechanics are professionals and go that extra mile, others just don’t care, take no pride in their work nor of the safety of customers, all they want is the money”. He then he kindly corrected the mistakes as a true mate would. (If your reading this Farhad, he thinks your remap is awesome!)

Now that these are rectified (with a bitter taste in my mouth), I am now concerned with what else they have done a rubbish job on that I can’t visibly inspect. 5000 miles on my car is still juddering in the same manner as it was when I collected it after fitment, the whole car judders violently upon moving from stationary, you can see the dash judder. I thought the clutch was meant to bed in after a bit of millage??? My fear is they have not fitted it properly.

I have no faith in CG clutches, the company leaves a lot to be desired, very saddened and shocked that they would release a car with such basic steps of the installation not carried out properly, its quite scary to think this is deemed acceptable/legal in there eyes. I don’t particularly wish to take my car back to them as who knows what else they may “mess up” either deliberately or through lack of technical expertise.

I am wondering about the experience of others with CG clutches? Does this violent juddering after 4000 miles sound normal?

From my personal experience, AVOID CG MOTORSPORT, as I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through.

Many thanks in advance

The longer this is dragged out, surely you're going to lose more money from potential customers not going with you than what it would cost to sort Billy out.

At least fit it for him for free so he can show you the problem? I don't see why it is his problem that he has to take time out of his life, using his money, to sort something that is your problem and your fault?

Hahahahahahahahahaha I knew that one would be posted, one of the first things I did when I joined the company was address that review.... the customer is still running the clutch and is extremely happy with it. Please join the forum (Civinfo) and ask him if you don't believe me. His username is Johnjonjo. There was a slight error made at fitting and now it runs like clockwork. He just posted a big rant - like Billy instead of picking up the phone. Our phone number is 0113 2426359, if you have got one of our kits and have a issue myself or Mick are always on the end of the line to help you out.

Anymore?

Come on guys we have sold over 10,000 performance clutches in the last 2 years so if we get 5 negative reviews thats still only 0.05% of all customers who have had anything bad to say about us.I'm not happy at 0.05% but I think its better than most companies in this industry....

I'm sure Billy is not so Hahahahahahahahaha about the situation !

I'm sure Billy is not so Hahahahahahahahaha about the situation !

but Billy has the option to send it back and get it redone as new, so if there were anything wrong with it it would be put right. sounds fair to me and I would buy it off billy if it were cheap enough. pretty sure billy has gone off on one before on here about other suppliers to be fair and it is not the way to get sorted really..

I've been reading the couple of threads for a while, I don't disagree that perhaps Billy shouldn't get his money back (nor do I agree he shouldn't), but I also don't agree CG Motorsport are truly awful. In reality, I think people complain more than they do praise. I am 100% guilty of this. So I don't doubt CG Motorsport have a ton of happy customers either.

But Andy, in all honesty, re-reading and posting and arguing, all be it defending yourself against the majority, whether it be right or wrong doesn't look good for CG Motorsport, whereas a gesture of good will, which I am sure you can afford given your impressive sales figures, might put the issue to rest and earn some respect.

I'm not taking sides as I genuinelly have no idea. But all this arguing makes me sad :(

+1 couldn't agree more with that comment

Im not sure how this can be seen as a good/viable option. If the clutch was still on the car at the time this was offered, not only does he have to pay another for it to removed and refitted, he would then be left with an undriveable car whilst it is sent off to be redone. Which to most people is unviable as they depend on their car for work etc. You also then have to have a place for the car to stay whilst you wait for the clutch to be redone and most garages wont want a car just sat there for that period of time.

The only way its beneficial is if billy was to sell the clutch on, but then it is totally reasonable the points billy mentions for not selling it on. If there was an issue with the clutch after he sold it then the comeback would come to him, and I'm sure CG wouldn't get involved as they would say it wasn't sold by them so they cant help. So it would then become a complete hassle for billy.

It should be a privilege that a customer has choose to use their clutch over another brand. They should then do their best to keep the customer happy with their clutch as this builds good reputation. Simply offering to remachine the parts so they can be sold on doesn't look like great customer service IMO.

An offer to take a look at it and try and sort it, whether that be correcting fitting if it has been fitted incorrectly previously, or whether it be re machined and fitting. If this wasn't able to sort the problem only then do I believe a refund would be in order. This type of offer would certainly look better on CG as people can see they have really tried to help.

I can't comment on whether CG clutches are good or not along with most people who have an opinion on this. And it can be expected that every company will have a few bad reviews. But unfortunately this saga will leave a lot of people skeptical as to whether their clutches/SMFs are good or not. And even at such a good price, people wont want to risk their hard earned cash. Which is a shame as there is currently a lot of people looking to change over to an uprated clutch and SMF, myself included, and I'm sure most people would genuinely consider such a well priced option.

There's a lesson to be learned here I think..

There's been some harsh words said about both parties, and the product.

I'm so glad I was a cop dealing with criminal offences, not civil, as I think this is one that will potentially rumble on and on until an appearance is made in a civil court (if it gets that far), either from Billy taking action against CG for goods that are not of merchantable quality (or whatever may be appropriate), or CG claiming against Billy for libel (again, or whatever may be appropriate).

It's a shame that both parties cannot meet, and agree on some common ground, as one, if not both parties, are goi gt o have their names sullied.

Personally, I think enough has been said on various threads within the forum, and now is the time to either stop the mud slinging, and cease the posts, or sort it via legal means.

It's just a thought, not an opinion, and having done 26 years as a police sergeant , that time taught me one thing; ultimately there are usually no 'winners'.

Can I just add, I'm not taking sides, nor am I offering a prescriptive or definitive answer, just applying my own version of common sense.

Having said that, I fully appreciate that a forum is one of the best places to get things out in the open, discussed, and hopefully moved forward towards a solution.......

I brought a clutch kit from theses people about a year ago as mine started to slip after a stage one mapped. At the time cg motorsport was doing an offer on the dual friction one. Half paddle half normal still using the dmf.

I went for this kit as my vrs had only done about 60000 plus miles. I can remember ringing Andy up on a sunday a few times asking about the clutch and if it was the best option for me. He was soo helpful on the phone and being a bloody sunday as well out of hours.

I Ordered the dual friction clutch over the Internet. The next day a Monday morning they rang me to say they received my order and that they was making it there and then. Later that day a got another phone to say it was ready to collect. So I shot up from chesterfield to Leeds to meet Andy in person. And couldn't Believe that they make them in house. I Had a little tour around the place. They looked really busy back then. Clutches everywhere boxed up to be posted too.

The car as now done 76000 miles and still on the stage one map And still going strong. The car gets driven too.. and still bits the same.

I would buy from theses again.

Ant or some people may know me as VR5 2 LOW

P.S thanks Andy

I'm willing to buy one at this offer, four more?

Why send something back to be as new when it was crap to start with.

Plus there is other reasons that ill say when home;-)

All those happy with your kits, I am glad and I was sortof tge same. If Iit wasnt for the noise I would still have it on there so wouldnt know the difference.

I didnt start this they did!

Mtf

but you didn't take it straight back out when you heard the noise it made you kept using it for months.... I suspect if you had it removed straight away then the answer from cg would have been different.

I have used lot's of competition clutches on rally cars and if you want something to take abuse it will not be nice to use on the road and I have also had dealings with helix's appalling customer service especially when needing a part in a hurry.

I bought a pair of michelin tarmac tyre's last year and they had so much grip they made the steering too heavy and wore out in 30 miles, do you think I could get a refund on them now I have worn them out?

at the end of the day they have offered to sort it , no amount of fantasy land dreaming about anyone fitting a clutch just to listen to it when everyone already knows what a solid flywheel sounds like is going to get you anywhere. in fact I think if the noise is that bad you possibly have a gearbox problem that the smooth dmf is masking now as the chatter is caused by the gear lash as the engine pulses speed up and slow down every time the engine fires (which are absorbed by the dmf usually).

I don't suppose you have uprated suspension bushes by any chance ? that would transmit more of the noise too. anyway not my fight and I will possibly buy a flywheel and paddle clutch kit off them as my tdi rally car progresses and maybe even lighten the flywheel even more to 7>8 kg and up  the idle speed to smooth it out a bit.

Read it all again.

I was happy to stick with it. Over time it got worse and I decided to sell the car so returning to std and sell on this kit. As I was aware at the time it was fine.

Only with heinsight do I now know it was a poor kit.

Tried upping idle.

Read my posts again

Not bothered about noise. I stated this Was the reason for removal but not reason to Iinvolve them.

Its the performance of it. The std kit spins freely and faster and the responsivness of the car is very noticable.

Even to me who only uses it as a commuter.

This is what I want them to do it for.

Ill get weights of them all and post.

so why not have it rebuilt and sell on???really does seem the answer instead of going round in circles and being stubborn about it?

Not really as I wouldnt have it on my car so why lumber someone else with it.

If it performed better and made the noises then fine but it is noisy and is out performed by a std setup so whats the point in it?

Better response

Better mpg

Faster startup

Smoother pickup

Quieter

Only thing the cg setup is "possibly" better at is holding more power but then it saps that powere ne way so no point in it is there?

Tried upping idle.

also could be that the ecu was reset while the battery was out too which may explain a bit of it, too many variables really it could even be down to a vac line getting disturbed while the box was taken out etc, more to it than overall weight too it you can have a heavy flywheel that has most of it's weight close in to the centre and a lighter one that has most of it's weight all around the outer edge and the heavier one will still feel more responsive. think the std dual mass is 14kg or so.

how much do you want for it if you sell it?

How about if Billy took them up on the refurb offer, then cg sold it on themselves as a refurbished item. And whatever they get for it, they give Billy? That way cg can inspect it first hand, it would be them selling on the possible faulty clutch (so no come backs to billy)? Least you'd be getting some money back?

Wouldn't bother if I was CG, can't win them all...
