2014 Superb 170 DSG 4x4 power ratio question

Featured Replies

I've currently got a Superb II 140 manual which I've has from new, but have just ordered a Superb estate 170 DSG 4x4.

I've researched what I can but cannot find anywhere any mention of whether it is permanent AWD or 2WD but just shoves power to the back wheels if traction is lost at the front. Also, assuming it is permanent AWD then what is the power ratio front / rear??

IIRC the 4WD is managed and only kicked in when required.

I've got a 4x4 Superb, I have read its between 90-95% fwd, and then when it needs it 5% of the time it will push the power to the rear. I still get wheel spin in mine though!

It's a standard Haldex 4th generation setup (unless they've gone to gen 5 for the facelift, which I doubt). Most of the time it's primarily front wheel drive but drives the rear when the fronts are in danger of slipping or when requested by the stability control system. Always starts off in 4wd as well. Here's Wikipedia's link, and there's many threads on Briskoda about it (it's the same system as in the Yeti). https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDUQFjAB&url=http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haldex_Traction&ei=STVrUv2oGojcswb0iIDwDw&usg=AFQjCNEgvTIc854oL7GpgP3yT3hy8Da6cQ&sig2=rZGVgmtK85YAjYO7CBSpjw&bvm=bv.55123115,d.Yms
