I've just bought something.

My dealer was pretty clear to me about it, hence why I didn't order new.

They had a communication that stated Front Assist and ACC had been dropped as options as of 4th October, and Front Assist would no longer be standard on Elegance models. Basically, as of 4th of October neither existed anymore. If your order wasn't on the system by 4th October they were not available, full stop.

They also seemed pretty certain that they wouldn't be coming back in the foreseeable future either.

I don't really give a monkeys whether my VRS comes with Front Assist or not. I prefer to decide when my car applies the anchors.

Unless you specced it as an option it wouldn't have done anyway?

Would be good to understand, from SUK, why it's disappeared completely from the Elegance - either as standard equipment or an option.

That seems to be the communication that's lacking.

I wandered over to seat.co.uk and it appears (though could also be wrong) that you can still get a Leon ST with front assist as part of a £500 bundle with adaptive cruise, but then you can't get a heated screen which is also high up on the list of "Toys I want".

Nope, I'm not green at the mo - for a while I only visited here occasionally, but once/if I'm back in a Skoda I'll join up again.

It was causing delays, apparently. It sounds like they can't get enough of the key components to build all the VAG cars that want it, so they've taken it off Skoda.

I wonder if this is a UK only thing or not....

Skoda CZ was still showing everything as an option earlier today :wonder:

Including options we could only dream of :bandit:

What else do they get that we can't?

My money would be on a UK only restriction to restrict demand

Some interesting stuff there, to be sure.

Anyway, the dealer called me back with some more information, and it seems that it's not quite as black and white as skoda told me this morning. I should be getting a call in the morning once they've had time to decide what to do and will post full details then.

LOL - if they find a few extra bits in the corner of the factory you'll get it??

I noticed on some VW forums that the Golf has a 20 - 26 week lead time at the moment.  I guess the demand for parts like the Front Assist are higher because of the demand across the VW group.

I ordered mine on 12 August and they have already tried to get me to remove the Front assist off the order.  My argument was I ordered it and that's what I expect.  Also was told by Skoda, no compensation if I took it off.

A mate asked me today why my Skoda is taking so long in delivering an Octavia, I explained it was partly due to Front Assist.  He replied, with that sort of delivery time, Id expect you were getting a Skoda Veyron!  I could do with a W12 engine.....

It does continue to surprise that a group the size of VAG can't get the relatively simple issue of component supply and demand correct.

If you're going to make a technology available to more vehicle makes and models, you're going to need more of the required parts!

Not like this hasn't happened before, yet they continue to fail in this regard.

It's still relatively new tech for a standard car, so not entirely surprising its gone wrong. Could definitely have been managed better though.

Same happened with the Yeti, sunroofs disappeared off the option list for quite some while, TDI engines became scarce with customers where being offered discounts to switch to TSI, Boleros were being replaced by Amunsden, Dolomite rims for Anna and even Alacantra replaced fabric and all due to supply issues in the first two years or so.

And I'm waiting on a couple of parts for mine for minor warranty work, and the dealer can't get a lead time out of Skoda, seems there just aren't any available!

Ooooh, I love a bit of suspense!

Yes, intriguing :)

It seems that front assist has been dropped as standard spec because of delays on getting the parts - that's all as we know. What they did say is that they have found from the internal Skoda message board that it *is* still available to order as a £300 option. Skoda don't want anyone to order it, so it's not in the brochure or on the website but they can still put it through if they need to as the parts *are* there in limited quantities and for other markets.

They called me last night to let me know this and said that they needed to decide how to proceed, but agreed that everyone expected it to be fitted at the time I ordered. This morning they rang again to say that they are happy to add it to my order at no extra cost to me and are confident that the car will turn up with front assist next year.

Can't argue with that, and they have been very helpful, so I'm a happy customer at the mo.

Decent result then

Indeed it is.

That's good news, it makes you wonder what can be ordered that's not in the brochure.  Some have gone to Skoda CZ and added options not even allowed in the UK by SUK.

I was just wondering if you could order a RHD car, for delivery to the UK, whilst not using SUK :)

You could end up with all sorts specced doing that!
