I've just bought something.

There are options I would like to spec but there not obtainable in the UK and I can only assume from previous direct contact with the manufacturer, this is purely down to the good people at Skoda UK, who for what ever reason have decided to limit the scope of options on offer to it's customers.

Certainly when I asked the factory about fitting non UK spec alloys to my current car, after getting a flat no from Milton Kynes, they appeared more than happy to help and for them a straight forward thing to do; punch a different build code into the computer.

It's a shame in some ways that it's not more practical (and in the full spirit of the EU 'common market') to go buy in Germany or the Czech, just to get access to all the factory options on offer, rather than the 50% or so we have here; SUK might soon be out of business :giggle:

From my post are there too many options, I would link in but I cannot see how to do it,

  • It seems that front assist has been dropped as standard spec because of delays on getting the parts - that's all as we know. What they did say is that they have found from the internal Skoda message b

It's still relatively new tech for a standard car, so not entirely surprising its gone wrong. Could definitely have been managed better though.

Its hardly new. VAG has been selling it for at least 3 years. Just seem to have badly underestimated demand.

I've just visited the Skoda DE site and configured a vRS to what I would like & that's the same as mine, with the addition of Heated Windscreen & Sunset Glass and it comes to a whopping £30,760!

Over there you have to pay for these:

Alarm € 250.00

Equipment Package Black Design € 40.00

Heatable windshield € 180.00

Driving profile selection with sound generator € 170.00

High-beam assistant € 190.00

Front radar Assistant € 270.00

Kessy, keyless entry and start-stop system € 390.00

Gemini anthracite alloy wheels 18 inches € 120.00

Park Assist € 570.00

Lane Departure (Assist) € 340.00

Infotainment package Bolero € 620.00

Sunset Glass € 190.00

See we dont do so badly in the UK, the alarm, driving profile, 18" gemini's, lane assist and bolero all standard fit

See in some ways I like the idea of having a very low spec car and everything being options.  Personally I'd happily swap lane assistance for high beam assistance or front radar.

It does seem perverse that Lane Assist is standard but cruise isn't. Even on the test drive I pulled in to disable it (Lane Assist), can't see me using it once the car arrives.

Yep, is a bit annoying having standard equipment you know you'll never use.

Latest update...

The person that they spoke to at Skoda UK had given them incorrect information, and there is no way that they can add front assist after all.

This is quite frankly a complete ****ing joke and I'm very likely to cancel the order.

If you're going to get in before it's place & confirmed otherwise you might have difficulty in getting your deposit back.

Oh poo, that's a bummer!

Sound advice.

Ask them to speak to the factory directly, it has been done before with wheel sizes on a Yeti. Have you logged a case with SUK?

That will be the job for first thing in the morning.

I might be joining you in logging a case - was promised a call on Friday with an update on the warranty parts I have been waiting almost 2 weeks for. Guess what, no call from the dealer.

Called in Saturday morning, and was promised a call today with an update. Guess what, still no call.

So, I will be calling them tomorrow, and if they still don't have a date when the parts are going to be in I shall be logging a case with SUK. I know it isn't the dealers fault if the parts aren't available, but if they promise a call (twice) then they should have the decency to call.

If the parts aren't available then I want to know what the plan is as I will be contacting VW finance and freezing payments on the finance until they are. The car is an ex demo that their sales staff were driving for 6 months, so they can't claim they didn't know the fault was there. They even serviced it the day before I picked it up and a fault code was logged for the fault when I scanned it when I got home FFS!

It is a minor fault with switch illumination and the LED downlighters, doesn't prevent the car from being driven, but it is a bugger to work out which switch is which when driving at night!

At one time I thought Skoda dealerships were different to others and now I know better.

The problem you have is you complain to SUK and they say not our fault it's the dealer and the dealer says not my fault it's Skoda/UK.

If Skoda don't have any parts it can hardly be the dealers fault!

I agree if there are no parts.

The problem is that little word if and finding out the truth and the problem is not  just a Skoda one.

Well, that's a case logged with Skoda UK, for all the good that it will do.

It would be the ability to log it at a level above SUK, then you might get somewhere.

Easier said than done though, I'm sure.

[email protected] - MD's email for Skoda UK.  Maybe he might be able to sympathise?

I did something similar with Vodafone after being unable to get a SIM switched over despite many attempts with customer services - cue a phonecall in 30 minutes, free month line rental and the SIM successfully switched!

ACC is a deciding factor for me to order a vRS or the sporty Insignia.

You can still spec the front assist on the German Skoda website so I am wondering if it is a RHD issue.

Did anyone in the UK actually take the delivery of a vRS with ACC/Front Assist before they took it off the options list?
