A mechanical question from a Fabia Owner.

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just got home in our Hatchback Skoda Fabia 1.2 and wife says Clutch is feeling sticky on the pressdown and juddering/not smooth.

Then I saw a tiny amount of smoke coming from the grill and popped the bonnet and saw a tiny amount of light grey smoke rising from here IMG_2605_zps460c7f12.jpg

Which is located here IMG_2606_zps1c25dfe3.jpg.

Now, so we can gauge whether it is safe to drive 5 miles to a garage or not I am hoping someone can offer some ideas as to (for starters) what part this is and whether such a journey is safe or not please?

Sorry to make my first ever post a request but we are a tad worried about driving with a little one in the back :(

Moved to a more appropriate forum

Should get more views/replies here mate

Starter sticking??

looks to be the solenoid on the starter motor (circled) but wouldn't explain the sticky clutch, well unless the car is trying to move all the time then you will be overloading the starter as you're trying to move the car as well as turn the engine

Pete

I believe it's quite a common fault, mine was changed under warranty on my 1.2 sport.

Thank you all for the replies very helpful.

My wife will take the car to the local garage tomorrow if it makes the 5Mile trip :)
Thanks again everyone.

Just be very carefull. Tell here to keep the revs as low as possible if she decides to drive it. If the starter solenoid is stuck in there could be the chance of damaging the flywheel ring gear which could possibly need a replacement flywheel. Better choice would be if the garage can send a mechanic to look at it without it being driven.
