  • IMO the fabia mkII needs a drop to look its best   The Monte is a looker anyway, but just a bit too much arch gap   Some lowering springs wont break the bank and you can put it back to standard in

Brilliant jonro. I will go through this again tomorrow and get some orders in.

Anything else you think i should spend my money on? :)

Is so easy to spend someone else's money!

Thinking cap on!

Yeah I know.... saw, wanted, needed link, sorted! lol

Apart from missing the huge torque push of the old fabia mk1 vrs, I'm loving the monte. So much quieter, smoother and almost just as quick if you drop her a gear.

Already done night breakers and CREE DRL's. Got interior lights ordered too.

Superdon, are you up north? Winter tyres?

Got any thoughts on winter tyres? I'm expecting a crap time with the weather I've bought steelies to put on soon. Got myself some sv-2 snow tyres.

I had goodyear F1's on the fabia mk1 and it was terrible!!!!  It was impossible to go in a straight line!

Swapped to steels and cooper tyres (not the best write up but a great tyre) and the difference was night and day!!!!    If you're up north, seriously think of all weather or steelies with proper winters on.  The grip on full winters is amazing compared to summer tyres.

The old fabia needed 185/55/R15 whilst the monte needs 195/55/R15 but its worth it, especially on rural roads with hills like shetland

I've heard sv-2's are pretty good.  Perhaps not the best of the best, but still a damn sight better than summers on snow!

I've got the sv-2 195/55 r15 on steelies got genuine skoda rims for £80 I think it was from dealer.

Yep snow tyres will be decent, Ness isn't as bad as Shetland but it does get pretty crap.

For the cost against your insurance excess, I think its worth it.

Ordered same size Cooper's the other day, but need to flog the old 185/55's.

Become a freedom member on here and you may get a buyer?

I ran the sv-2 on my Panda 100hp last year and they really did make a difference, like you said though, not the best but not the worst and at £42 a corner I can't complain

I have winters and steelies for our van (vw t4) so know how good they are. We are in the midlands, so fingers crossed it doesn't get too bad. Because we have the two sets of wheels for the van, we don't have space for another set for the Monte Carlo unfortunately

Heko Wind Deflectors?

Oh yeah, forgot about them. I fitted them and they look good

I'm waiting on a delivery of Nankang Winters which I'll be fitting to some Leon Cupra Alloys although I think steelies actually look quite burly as a winter mode option, saw some sprayed in white on a vRS that looked really good.

I can't imagine the vRS is exactly a hero in wintery conditions so like you guys thought I best get ready.

Just need MyTyres to get there asses in gear.......... :wonder:

I've just got 15s to go on.....not looking forward to having them but it has to be done, it was my cheapest option as I already had the tyres.

They are grey, I'm just going to get some black trims and leave it like that.

I'm about to spray wrap mine in Vinyl, if all goes to plan and they don't look a dogs dinner you should consider doing the Steelies.

Would only cost 20quid and would probably look better than trims.

Marginally less likely to fall off too :)

I wouldn't know where to start with that. They are standard OEM rims so they don't look good whatever way you paint them... I did plan to spray them black just so they didn't look dodgy behind the trim.....I'll await your pics ;)

Team Heko

I took my Team Heko's off last weekend, I'm undecided on their look and also benefit.  May go back on, may not, pain in the backside when cleaning the car as well.

Jonro, youtube some clips of dipyourcar or dipmycar I think it's called, it's a plastidip dealer in the US.  They make it look simple enough that you can literally clean the wheels and spray them (on the car, tyres on, really simple) could be an option if you wanted them black and totally reversible if you balls it up as the stuff just peels off.

To be honest, I am not convinced either having looked at a few pics.  I have them on the van and they are great, but they look a bit too square? Especially the rear ones.

But, then again, on the black Tech, they might look good?

I like the look of the fronts....undecided on the back but you can't have one without the other. As for benefit I've seen none other than I like the front ones but they can play havoc with the safety close on auto windows.

I will YouTube the videos and see what is all about thanks sparkly

Superdon...an extension of the car mod why not get a key cover?

Some people have gone for side mouldings to break up the car but I'm not a fan.

Don't forget about a Brisky sticker.

Thinking about the stickers I asked my dealer to remove them but they left the irc one on so you may have to specify

Will have a look at the key cover.
