Best EGR delete for ASZ engined vRS

Featured Replies

I'm interested in what people have to say about EGR delete, which is the best kit, best vfm, which is easiest to fit etc, as I'm looking to get one fitted to SWMBO's vRS.

If you have an experience you'd like to share with me (hopefully about the egr delete, rather than sexual....!!!) positive or negative, I'd be very grateful.

I guess that Darkside or Allard may be most popular?

or if you want to save money just get a couple of blanket plates (and the egr needs to be mapped out by the way)

look in the group buy section £35 for a ASZ,  I'd say they were a bit of a muchness, as to me they are essentially a piece of pipe, no mechanicals, but I dont have one , so my input probably isnt worth that much...

as far i am aware you dont need to map anything out on an ASZ, i plan on doing down the blanking plate option.

Am I correct in saying that that an egr delete kit doesn't need mapping out, but a blanking plate conversion would?

Not as far as I am aware. If you blank it off comp doesn't know anything is wrong, so you don't get lights(asz doesn't get lights with delete anyway).

u can map it out altogether but I don't think that would achieve anything anyway as gases don't go anywhere with them been blanked off. That's only if you don't blank it off I believe.

So I guess it comes down to egr delete kit or blanking plates, and then which make.

For some reason i seem to see more Darkside Decelopment ones mentioned.

  • Take the thing off and give it a good clean internally.  While it's off, try to push the exhaust-gas valve up off its seat, against the spring that holds it shut.  Consider how likely this valve is to open 'on its own', without the assistance of the big vacuum diaphragm.

Conclude that removing the vacuum hose from the top diaphragm will ensure that the valve never again opens to admit exhaust gases.

Remove the other vacuum hose from the diaphragm on the side to stop the butterfly valve ever moving from 'fully open'.

Carefully block both vac hoses with self-tappers or golf tees to prevent vacuum leakage.

Done.

So presumably this negates the need for an egr delete pipe?
